Earlier this week we announced our August release to cloud and the launch of Qlik DataTransfer, a new, lightweight utility that securely pushes on-premises data and local files to Qlik Sense SaaS. Qlik DataTransfer is included in both Qlik Sense Business and Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS, so users can include on-premises data in their cloud analytics

Qlik DataTransfer’s intuitive interface keeps it simple by guiding users to simply by selecting tables and fields to transfer on a schedule or to set up a watch a folder for new or updated flat files. Users can also leverage the full power of Qlik Sense’s ability to combine and transform data prior to scheduled data transfers. When your on-premises data arrives in the cloud your Qlik Sense apps can automatically update without missing a beat.

Qlik DataTransfer provides multiple ways to transfer your on-premises data in the cloud, so users have multiple options to support different types of on-premises data and data files.

Simply Select Your Data

Qlik DataTransfer’s intuitive user interface guides you to simply select tables and fields from your on-premises data source. Qlik DataTransfer moves the selected tables and fields to the desired shared or managed space in Qlik Sense on a set schedule.  When data arrives it can also trigger apps to update with the latest data.  It doesn’t get simpler - select data, set a refresh frequency, find insights.

Transform and Combine Data

If you need to analyze multiple on-premises data sources together, use Qlik DataTransfer to ensure your apps always have the most up to date information from each of your sources. Combine, transform, and associate your data using Qlik’s one-of-a-kind visual data prep features or robust scripting with a Qlik Sense app (QVF). Qlik DataTransfer refreshes your app and sends the resulting tables to the cloud on demand or on a set schedule, so your app always reflects your most up-to-date business information.

Watch a Folder

If you have Excel files, text files and other local files you’d like to include in your analysis, Qlik DataTransfer can watch a folder for new or updated files and automatically send new or changed files to Qlik Sense where your apps will be updated too.  If the data is exported from another system or manually entered into the files, your analysis will stay in step with the latest information.

Anyone can try Qlik DataTransfer with a free trial of Qlik Sense Business. Sign up for your free trial today, and let Qlik DataTransfer move all of your data to the cloud.

Hello, i am excited about the new possibilities the tool offers.

I have some questions:

What ports/protocols have to be opened in the firewall to use this utility? 5505 - 5508 is not sufficient - this is the only info i found in the online manual.

How does the folder sync work exactly? As you know until now we had to find other ways to get our on-premise data in the cloud. We did a dump of all DBs to CSV to a Cloudservice and did the transform in QSSaaS reading from there and writing the transformed QVS in QSaaS File Space.

Basically the dump takes its time, so there are minutes between updates of files in the same directory. How does the option to auto start a app after data refresh reacts in such a scenario?

will this also work for on premise qlik sense installations? To collect data from multiple other sources outside the farm setup?

and if not yet, do we know if its planned to have this available as well for own sense installation?

Is Qlik Data Transfer a standalone product or is it dependent on a local Qlik engine?
