Industry buzz surrounds digital transformation; a requirement for today’s organizations to be more agile and data driven is essential to maintaining relevancy and competing in fast-paced markets. We understand you’ve heard this message and are working on projects to move your business forward. Qlik is evolving alongside you. And while supporting your efforts, we are driving toward becoming much more than just a software company. For example, our Data Literacy initiative empowers organizations to build a culture in which the ability to read, work with, analyze, and argue with data is built into the corporate fabric, so more people can benefit from analytical insights.

We strive to meet you where you are and grow with you as you implement new technologies and innovate. We get it, you’ve invested heavily in QlikView and many business functions rely on it daily. So, QlikView is not going anywhere and we strongly encourage you to upgrade to the current release, if you’re not already there, so you can leverage the power of the latest Associative Engine, along with enhancements such as:

  • Advanced analytics integration, which gives you the power to integrate external analysis, such as R or Python, with the Qlik Associative Engine – available in load script and visualizations.
  • A new Shared File structure to improve transaction handling, management and stability while dramatically reducing the risk of corrupted files in high-traffic collaboration scenarios.
  • The WebClient, now fully functional as the primary client – supporting UI language selection, chart detach, set reference data comparison, copy column and copy cell.

The QlikView November 2018 release is on the horizon. With this release, we’re planning to implement the Skia graphics library as well as ICU libraries for improved graphical flexibility and more consistent application behavior across different platforms and regions. Additionally, we expect to release new log files, improving visibility and ensuring optimal engine and reload performance. Other enhancements targeted for this release include support for IPv6 and .NET Framework 4.7.2.

Moving forward, the QlikView development trajectory is primarily horizontal. This means we won’t be adding major new functionality or visualizations to the core product. We expect to launch one incremental QlikView release per year. Improvements to QlikView will primarily be comprised of usability, flexibility, and performance enhancements, plus support for key frameworks and platforms.

For your new projects, Qlik Sense may be the best solution. As Qlik’s modern analytics platform, Qlik Sense supports the full spectrum of analytics use cases. It includes augmented intelligence for visualization, exploration, search and data preparation, as well as Qlik GeoAnalytics Base, Qlik DataMarket Essentials, and Qlik Web Connectors. We understand this investment can seem overwhelming and we’re here to help make it easy to implement Qlik Sense.

Both products already run on the same engine, so QlikView data models and analytics expressions can be re-used in Qlik Sense. And, we’re taking steps to improve product coexistence, including a single user identity and common license management, a single point of user access, and simplified administration and management. In addition, we plan to build more Advanced Authoring functionality into Qlik Sense, to provide dashboard developers with greater control and flexibility to build advanced guided analytics applications according to the business problems they’re trying to solve.

Our QlikView and Qlik Sense dual use offer makes Qlik Sense adoption extremely cost effective, while maintaining your QlikView footprint. A 30 percent uplift on your annual maintenance is all it takes to access the powerful Qlik Sense functionality across your established QlikView user base. You can then augment your investment with additional Qlik Sense or dual use licenses for new users. Our dual use services provide consulting and education to help you maximize your investment in both products.

So, whether you want to stick with QlikView or expand your analytics capabilities with Qlik Sense, we’re here to support you today and in the future, as you modernize your business and operations.
