As part of our ongoing SaaS product roadmap, we are excited to announce the launch of Qlik Sense Business, our newest SaaS offering designed to help groups and teams collaborate on analytics and make faster data-driven decisions.

Is this the same as Qlik Sense Cloud Business?

No, and it’s not just a name change, either. Qlik Sense Business is a new, enhanced offering with more capabilities that groups and teams can use to build and share apps for greater discoveries.
Qlik Sense Business runs on Qlik Cloud Services, our cloud-native, Kubernetes-based SaaS platform that also hosts Qlik Sense Enterprise.  Qlik Sense Business users will now benefit from the same speed, performance, and availability as our enterprise SaaS users. Additionally, Qlik Sense Business also shares the same enhanced and redesigned user interface, cloud hub, and management console as Qlik Sense Enterprise on Qlik Cloud Services.

Qlik Sense Business users benefit from:

•  Full Qlik Sense analytics capabilities, including the Associative Engine
•  All of Qlik’s latest augmented intelligence capabilities, including insight suggestions
•  Drag-and-drop app creation and fully interactive apps
•  A personal space to create your own content and share with anyone you wish
•  Five shared spaces where your team members can do-develop and share apps
•  Direct data connectivity to over 40 data sources
•  Automated data refreshes

The global roll out of Qlik Sense Business is underway. Be one of the first by to start your 30-day trial now. You will be able to create your tenant in minutes, and begin creating and sharing apps immediately – all without any downloads or installations.

Currently a Qlik Sense Cloud Business user?

Stay tuned for upcoming details next months. We’ll tell you how you can migrate from Qlik Sense Cloud Business and subscribe to Qlik Sense Business. You’ll also be eligible for a limited-time offer savings when you migrate your existing cloud subscription.

Hi Michael

Has a price per user been announced yet?

And what is the plan for QS Cloud business? I've noticed QSCB wasn't  updated for the June release so what is the plan for this product. Is Qlik going to continue supporting both. And if so for how long. And what does this support include (upgrading to the latest release for example)?

Also could you (or someone) please provide more information on the exact differences between QSCB and QSB. Ive had a quick look at QSB and I notice that the Dropbox connection has vanished  (replaced by Amazon S3). But overall I liked it (including a lot faster including the initial load - and I never had an issue with QSCB - but maybe this is related to the small number of users) and would like to test moving to this new product. But more information is needed. A lot more.

Thanks

Hi Mike, I fail to see the difference between the new offering and Qlik Sense Cloud Business. It sounds like Cloud Business with 5 workspaces. How/Why is it better? I have so many questions: - Does it have QMC? - Can I use section access? - Can I use extensions? - Are the data sources predefined or I can also use e.g. SAP connector? Some comparison between Qlik Sense Enterprise, Business, and Cloud Business would be great. Don't know about the others but I am seriously confused. 😕

Hi everyone.

Qlik Sense Business differs from QSCB in a number of important ways, including:

  • QSCB was based on our Windows architecture; QSB is based on our Qlik Cloud Services architecture so it's much more friendly to a SaaS experience and much more flexible, with better performance and faster response to load.
  • QSCB was a unique product with no simple upgrade path. It wasn't quite the same experience as Qlik Sense Enterprise (QSE)--though it shared DNA with Qlik Sense--nor did it have a 1:1 feature set with either Qlik Sense Desktop or QSE. QSB, on the other hand, is the same product and platform as QSE with some quota limitations built in, such as the maximum app size and storage quotas that are more appropriate for smaller deployments.
  • On that same note, there is a definitive upgrade path from QSB to QSE, and if the user chooses to upgrade, the same tenant can be used without losing anything; no need to create a new tenant, re-invite users, or move content. That was impossible in QSCB.
  •  QSCB was limited to 50 users and 5 groups. QSB, while still limited to 5 spaces, has the provision for unlimited users, and as mentioned above, an upgrade path to QSE if the customer needs more spaces.
  • QSCB could not use extensions of any kind. QSB, since shares a platform with QSE, includes the Dashboarding and Visulization Bundles. While, QSCB included only the base objects. (We are still working on custom extensions, though, due to security concerns.)
  • QSB does include a Management Console to allow you to administer users, user roles, and more.

In short, we've built QSB using the very latest technology to provide a better user experience that is closer to full Qlik Sense Enterprise, with the provision to allow users to upgrade easily if they desire.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Joe

Hi,

I thought it would be helpful if I added a few more differences that I appreciate and give a few more details.  They basically break down into two areas:

-The new hub:  new hub gives a much greater amount of flexibility to organize and collaborate on content.  You can have multiple spaces and within each space, you can decide who has edit rights and who has interact only rights.  There is also the ability to invite specific users into your Personal space to view specific apps.

- Management Console: this is a new interface that has the appropriate settings for a cloud tenant such as user roles (including multiple admins), inviting users, upload themes and even the ability to turn on On-Demand App Generation (ODAG).

If you are a current Qlik Sense Cloud Business subscriber, for now, we ask you to keep using Qlik Sense Cloud Business.  We will be sending out additional information on how you can move to Qlik Sense Business in a month or two.  Why a month or two?  As was pointed out above there are new connectors such as S3 however there are also some gaps such as DropBox which we want to close.  In addition, Qlik Sense Business is $30 USD per user per month and we are planning in an introductory offer to our existing QSCB customers that I'm confident will be most agreeable (sorry I can't share it quite yet).

Thanks Joe and Josh for this information.

In general I really like the route that Qlik has now gone with SaaS and the cloud emphasis. And linking the two SaaS products in this way. My view is it was a must move. And my initial view on QSB was a thumbs up. But I will add a few points to consider below.

Price. I look forward to the details on the introductory offer. I hope you have done enough research on this area. It's double the QSCB price. Personally I don't have an issue with this price. But the reality is that PBI is cheaper. And one of the points that I push is that QSCB is about the same price. So if price is an issue also look at QSCB not just go for PBI almost by default. And have you built in a factor for low use users (like with enterprise). I have one client with 15 QSCB users. 4 are heavy users. The rest hardly ever use it today. My view is the price is low enough to not make this an issue. I want to get people signed on without cost being a factor. And then work on more use. Get more heavy use from say at least half the users. And then maybe later upgrading to enterprise.

Personal section. I like this a lot. Sharing Apps by user rather than all users having access to a stream. Many refresh options including hourly. App favourites. Increased speed to load and also use of App was much quicker as well. Public and private sheets etc. I couldn't get sharing to work but hope the shared user can have their own bookmarks. And have their own sheets within an App if wanted.

Shared. This was also improved. It includes the improvements above. But I liked how the 5 shared space are now separate. Rather than one workspace and 5 streams there are now effectively 5 work-spaces that a user can be assigned as just 1. a user (like stream access in QSCB) or 2. an editor or 3. an administrator. This is much better.

But I would prefer one additional category. 4. User with refresh rights. And maybe 5. User with self service and refresh rights. For example. I have users that are happy with a daily refresh but want to have an immediate update when required. Like month end. Not wait an hour but do it straight away. And a few users love doing there own thing. So they hang onto Excel. So a little self service (developing their own sheets and stories but no more) would hopefully get them more involved.

Thanks for this feedback. It's helpful to know how people use (or would like to use) the product in real-world situations.

Thanks a lot guys, very helpful information! I see that there is a big difference between QSB and QSCB. If I understand correctly, QSB is basically QSE with predefined limitations such as maximum app size, limited amount of streams, maybe less QMC options? If the user decides to go from QSB to QSE, you will just 'unlock' all features. I would be very interested to know two things - will QSB support [1] third party extensions (not included in the bundles) and [2] paid connectors (SAP)? A data sheet showing all QSE features that will be limited or not available in QSB would help customers a lot to make the right choice. 😉

@QlikUpdate and @Josh_Good

I wonder if you can share the 40+ direct data connectivity data sources?

This is most interesting to me and the work I do, so super keen to learn what they are?
