Qlik Sense Enterprise just got a lot cloudier with the first phase of multi-cloud capabilities included in the June 2018 release! These capabilities represent our first step in delivering the only true multi-cloud analytics solution. Our cloud-native, best-in-class architecture gives you unparalleled flexibility and choice in how you deploy analytics across on-premise and public and private clouds without any compromises on the Qlik Sense experience. Our cloud strategy is all about enabling your cloud strategy, and we're exclusively providing cloud analytics on your terms.

Beginning with this release, Qlik Sense Enterprise customers can now distribute applications from a single tenant cloud or on-premise deployment of Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows to one or both of two new highly-elastic and scalable cloud environments for consumption and interaction:

  • Qlik Sense Enterprise for elastic deployments, a new deployment package designed to run large-scale Qlik Sense Enterprise deployments using containers in the cloud of your choice

  • Qlik Cloud Services*, a public cloud environment hosted and managed by Qlik that is elastic and highly scalable, globally available and always up to date with the latest features

Additionally, all users receive a single license and login across all environments, and access to the new hub, which includes new collaboration and content organization features. You can define rules and policies aligned to your business requirements to determine where data is stored and how analytics are distributed across environments and your user community. You can also change the structure of your deployment as your data and business needs change over time. We don't lock you in to a specific deployment model.

Additional multi-cloud capabilities, including the ability to create and add sheets to applications in the cloud, are planned added on an ongoing basis as part of our continuous release cycle. Reference Qlik’s Statement of Direction for more roadmap details. Below,  watch Mike Tarallo's introductory video to learn more about the first phase of multi-cloud deployment options and the longer-term vision of Qlik's multi-cloud strategy:

Qlik's Multi-Cloud Solution - Part 1 - Introduction

Our multi-cloud strategy is made possible by cloud-native, containerized software that ensures your applications deploy quickly, reliably, and consistently regardless of the deployment environments.  It also ensures a seamless, consistent Qlik Sense experience regardless of whether end users are accessing analytics on-premise, in the cloud, on a device, or across different geographies. And, because different services are developed and improved independently, our continuous release cycles rapidly deliver innovation to you.

Since our Qonnections 2018 keynote, we've been (very) eagerly waiting to show you more of these great new features, and to hear your feedback. Below, watch how a user can distribute apps to a Qlik Sense Enterprise for Elastic environment and navigate the new hub. With our best-in-class multi-cloud architecture running behind the scenes, the user experience is easy, seamless, and fast!

"Qlik Cloud Services*, a public cloud environment hosted and managed by Qlik that is elastic and highly scalable, globally available and always up to date with the latest features"

How much will this cost?

Qlik Sense Enterprise for Elastic, a new deployment package designed to run large-scale private Qlik Sense Enterprise deployments using containers in the cloud of your choice

And I assume this will be costed at $15 per user per month if cloud business is used (I assume cloud business can be used) for those just using cloud business.

Thanks

Hi Robert,

Qlik Sense Enterprise for Elastic is available to Qlik Sense Enterprise customers (on subscription or perpetual licenses).  There is no additional license cost of using this software, however, the customer is responsible for infrastructure and management.

Qlik Sense Cloud Business does not include the multi-cloud capabilities.  It is a fully SaaS offering with connectivity to on-premises data sources and already elastic, scalable and globally available.

OK thanks.

I assumed that if you had QS Enterprise it was possible to now have some using the full self service enterprise solution and others using the cheaper cloud business license. That's what my understanding was. So users could use of variety of licensing options as required to reduce costs.

jgd‌ collections are part of the Qlik Cloud Services. Is there a change that we get collections also within the hub of a standalone Qlik Sense Enterprise environment?

Sanders,

Collections are part of the multi-cloud hub so that would include Qlik Cloud Services and Qlik Sense Enterprise for elastic deployment.  Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows remains with streams.  The roadmap for multi-cloud includes having it become fully capable so it is not reliant on Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows to create and reload apps.

Thanx for the quick reply. My customer is looking for a more granular level for offering apps to the end users. The streams are containing multiple apps. Not every app is useful for every user and he isn't happy with duplicating apps over streams. With collections users get more options to create favorites for example.

So, if my customer persists on this then it's best for him to migrate to a multi cloud architecture. Or can we vote to get favorites/collections in Enterprise? 😉

Sander,

I would recommend against a 'migration', multi-cloud can be in addition to the current environment so I would recommend adding it and seeing if fits the need better.  This makes it a much lower effort and you can be more agile.
