Qlik is pleased to announce the June 2020 product release, furthering our leadership in augmented intelligence, best in class visualizations, and platform extensibility.    Also, this release delivers updates to several data integration products, including performance improvements, expanded cloud platform support, and new certifications.

5 min Summary

We are excited about the advancements made in Augmented Analytics, as we are introducing business logic into our cognitive engine.  With this new capability, customers can create metadata and rules to inform and guide the behavior of Insight Advisor when generating visualizations and insights.  In addition, supporting our global footprint, Insight Advisor now supports multiple languages when using search-based insight generation now with French, Spanish, and Russian, with additional languages planned for future releases.

Our cloud offering continues to get stronger to ensure that our customers can easily adopt our SaaS and client managed offerings, as we deliver high-value features to expand use cases and improve user experience and platform management.  With this release, we expanded connectivity delivering additional high demand data sources like Qualtrics, added more connectors in the Qlik Sense Add Data interface including Google Analytics and Twitter, and we have enhanced existing connectors.

The June release also includes new embedded analytics capabilities that deliver further extensibility and value to the developer community and beyond.     With this, we launched Qlik.dev - our new developer portal for discovering, learning, and referencing APIs for cloud editions of Qlik Sense.  Beyond the portal, customers can now automate Qlik Sense SaaS editions into their DevOps processes with Qlik CLI driving greater analytic efficiencies from the command line.    And Qlik’s Nebula.js 1.0 library is framework agnostic, making it easier to embed Qlik analytics into other web applications and create custom visualizations to support even more customer use cases.   Don't miss Mike Tarallo's next "Do More with Qlik" series, which will focus on these elements of the release, featuring Jeff Goldberg who is the PM for all things embedded - APIs, Integration, and Identity.   Register here

Qlik Sense is “looking better than ever.”  In the past year, we have delivered over 50 new visualizations and dashboarding enhancements – and the June 2020 release takes us even further.

Sparklines:  Enhancements of the straight table continue.  The cells can now feature a mini chart, a measure across a second dimension, also known as sparklines.

Table Customization Options:   The tables (straight and pivot) now have more options to customize the user experience including setting the scroll bar size and highlight rows on hover.

Bullet Chart Improvements: The bullet chart is a custom-built graph for presenting KPIs in a clear and informative way as possible. We have improved the bullet chart in Qlik Sense, with more customization options and support for standard Qlik Sense functionality.

  • Titles and descriptions can now be dynamic through the use of expressions
  • Set expressions and expression modifiers such as ‘ALL and TOTAL are now supported
  • We have added the ability to hide default rows

Org Chart Enhancements:  It is now easier for users to interact with the Org Chart, through improvements such as a home button, autozoom, fully expanded mode, and border color options.

Looks cool! Can't wait to give it a test drive..

Regarding Chart Monitoring in the Hub. Looks like a game changer !

From the video it appears to become available in Qlik Sense Cloud Business. Will it also become available for Qlik Sense Enterprise? If it does, would it be possible for a devereloper or admin to set default objects for a stream?

Are there any release notes available for SaaS?  I'm not sure if this exists and I just couldn't find it.  It would be great to have a list of all the bug fixes and new additions.  It makes it easier for checking and testing known and unknown issues.

Hi Guys -

@roelemanskiblue - this is only available in Qlik Sense cloud-based ans SaaS (enterprise / business) deployments of Qlik Sense with no plans as of this time to be available in WIndows.  There are some improvements planned for the feature - but I am not sure what they are yet.

@squeakie_pig - here is a copy of the release notes - I believe it is combined - if there is something specific please let me know:  https://da3hntz84uekx.cloudfront.net/QlikSense/13.82/0/QlikSense_June_2020_ReleaseNotes.pdf

@Michael_TaralloRegarding this:

" this is only available in Qlik Sense cloud-based ans SaaS (enterprise / business) deployments of Qlik Sense with no plans as of this time to be available in WIndows."

If this is not actually available in Qlik Sense (Enterprise), why is it listed as a new feature of this version? If content is not being released consistently to all versions of a product, I think you guys should really consider having different sets of release notes / versioning for Cloud / SaaS vs. enterprise, because my expectation as a customer is that new functionality will be available to me when it is announced. I have to admit I am very disappointed to find out it is not available in Enterprise, nor is it expected to be - seems like Qlik is now neglecting my recently-implemented platform (QS Enterprise) to make new features for Cloud/SaaS only. It feels like QV to QS all over again...

It definitely does not feel good to see advanced but unavailable features dangled in front of me. Would prefer product specific release notes.

Absolutely agree.

we switched from QV to QS with a lot of work.

We can‘t switch from QS Windows to an Cloud Version if there are any differences between these tools in the next few years.

Qlik should harmonize at least the different Qlik Sense versions.

Hello @Or  - thanks for your comments. I have shared your comments with product management. Qlik Data Analytics new features span the entire spectrum of qlik sense deployments. It is available in Qlik Sense Enterprise cloud-based and SaaS deployments. There are some features that are added to cloud first and then added to windows enterprise deployments later, some are not. The windows enterprise architecture is different than the cloud-based deployments - so I am not aware of the effort. I hear your concern and if I hear anything back from PM I will update this thread. Thanks again.
