Export of a story to Powerpoint PPTX crashes printing service

After the update to QlikSense version November 2019 we aren't able to export a story to powerpoint.
When trying this the application runs without finishing and also gives no error back in the log.
But after trying to export to Powerpoint /PPTX, there is no export possible any more, also not as XLSX or PDF or JPG.

After trying an pptx-export I have to restart the QlikSense printing service to be able to export XLSX/PDF/JPG.

I already updates Windows Server 2012R2 where QlikSense is running with all available updates and patches but nothing helps.

Is there anybody who has got the same problems after updating QlikSense to the actua version Novemebr 2019?

Thank you for your help!

Best wishes
Marcus

Hi Marcus,

it seems that there is a bug with Version November 2019:

Here is an info from Qlik:

the problem may surface after the certain latest Microsoft Patches are installed on the server. Similar to the following may or may not be registered in the Printing service debug logs:

...
Assembly CefSharp.Core, Version=75.1.142.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=40c4b6fc221f4138 requested: error Could not load file or assembly 'CefSharp.Core.dll' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found. at System.Reflection.RuntimeAssembly.nLoad(AssemblyName fileName, String codeBase, Evidence assemblySecurity, RuntimeAssembly locationHint, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, IntPtr pPrivHostBinder, Boolean throwOnFileNotFound, Boolean forIntrospection, Boolean suppressSecurityChecks)↵↓ at System.Reflection.RuntimeAssembly.InternalLoadAssemblyName(AssemblyName assemblyRef, Evidence assemblySecurity, RuntimeAssembly reqAssembly, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, IntPtr pPrivHostBinder, Boolean throwOnFileNotFound, Boolean forIntrospection, Boolean suppressSecurityChecks)↵↓ at System.Reflection.Assembly.Load(AssemblyName assemblyRef)↵↓ at Qlik.Printing.Sense.Core.Util.LibsManager.<>cDisplayClass4_1.<.cctor>b_3(Object s, ResolveEventArgs args)

because there are product defect ID you can ask your Qlik reseller if there is a patch for that problem.

Patches solves one problem but maybe ignore other problems. If the problem is known for enough time it is solved with version Feb, otherwise in a Service Release or April....

Dear all,

I just installed the new February 2020 release upgrade and now everything works fine again.

They have totally redesigned the Export function to be more independant from the Microsoft Patches and it succeded.

"Printing service fails to render images on recent Windows versions
JIRA Issue: QB-454 Description: On recent Windows versions the Printing service internal .NET Remoting protocol has shown stability issues. Since this protocol has become obsolete it has been replaced by a local GRPC communication protocol which guarantees long-term reliability and platform-independence.

Best wishes
