Hello All - To close out this discussion based on the OP topic / question and for those that might stumble upon this - there is now a connector for SAP for Qlik Sense. You can learn more here:

Qlik SAP SQL Connector

Thanks Mike,

I saw that, but assumed there is an additional cost (we already have Sense Server/Enterprise)?  Is that correct or is it "included" in the QlikSense licence we already have?

It's not letting me upgrade the SAP connector license with Qliksense License.

You asked the same question here;

Using an existing qvw in qliksense

As the reply there says, you need to edit your script and remove the connect string, then load the QVDs (or am I misunderstanding?)

Hi Simon

That's a good question only your rep can answer. I am not sure how they are "selling" it - so to speak.

Okay, so after removing the connect string, I need to give the lib statement before loading every qvd?

We use SQL Server as our database and Basis support was able to create a read only user for me on SQL Server directly. However, this is for our SAP BW environment, not ECC. I am using the standard SQL Server OLE DB connector in Qlik Sense to pull data from SAP BW.

I would think this would work;

  1. Create the data repository where you store the QVD files
  2. LOAD * from [lib://Qlik Data Files/YourData.qvd] (qvd)

Or even better, use the "Add Data" wizard to select the files/tables/data.

I was able to update the license with the SAP license key we got with Qlikview.
