ODBC Connection to SQL Server from Qlik Sense using windows authentication

This is a bit difficult for me to explain, I'm not a networking expert, but here goes...

I'm trying to set up an ODBC connection from Qlik Sense to a SQL server on another domain. The secondary domain is trusted. The ODBC has to use windows authentication for a user on the secondary domain (same domain as the SQL server).

When I use Crystal Report (which also uses ODBC) to connect to the SQL server, I have set up the ODBC connection as a different user and authenticate on the secondary domain. Also, I have to run Crystal Reports as a different user (a user authenticated on the secondary domain). The same with SSMS...I run it as another user and authenticate on the trusted domain.

I set up the system DSN on the Qlik Sense server, and it can select it in my app, but I can't connect. I do my development via browser, so I tried running the browser as a different user, but no luck connecting.

I found this article, which makes zero sense to me: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/February2018/Subsystems/PlanningQlikSenseDeployments/Content/Deplo...

But, do I need to have a domain admin do something like this to make the ODBC connection work?

I'm sure I haven't explained this well...

The qlik sense service account might need access also.

That is the case for OLEDB trusted connection, could it be the same problem for ODBC?

Access to the SQL server? That isn't going to happen 😞
The server is maintained by another company and getting access isn't easy.

Has there been any resolution to this?  I face the same problem.
