Qlik Sense 3.1 - R and Python Support

Is the functionality to integrate R and Python with Qlik Sense available? It looks like something was posted in computerworld stating this was going to be in the 3.1 release, but I'm not sure where to find it in the app.

Hi Kristy,

Learn What's New in Qlik Sense 3.1

Please check the comments by Micheal mto‌, i have asked the same question.

He said it will be available in 3.1 beta.

As you said, instead of workaround and third party solutions,

Qlik providing the direct functionality of integration that would be fantastic.

Thanks,

Lakshmikandh

Hi Kristy,

As far as I know, we do not have an R connector for Qlik Sense. But You can try with REST connector that will allow you to connect to R via its REST APIS:

Using REST APIs from R | Technistas

It may be possible using the WEB FILE connector - if the REST interface does not have authentication, and the formatted result comes back in a supported formatted such as CSV, (delimited), XML etc.

Another possibility is to use Alteryx (our tech partner - data preparation platform) to create a flow that feeds data from R to a Qlik .qvx data file that is then consumed by Qlik.

BTW - there may be other partners that have developer connectivity for QlikView and R such as: QlikView R Connector - this can also be used with Qlik Sense, by enabling a data connector mode - known as Legacy mode - or by disabling Standard mode. Most QlikView Connectors are compatible in these modes, they just require using the CONNECT script instead of using the configuration wizards.

Thanks for the information Rohit and Lakshmikandh. From the article in Computerworld, it sounded like it was going to be possible to pass data in and out of both R and Python directly from the Qlik engine. That would be fantastic. I was hoping to find out if the status of this functionality (if anyone knows). Rohit, while the methods you've listed would definitely help to accomplish the integration of R or Python with Qlik, it would be great to eliminate a need for any additional steps/programs which is possible with some other BI tools.

Thanks Lakshmikandh!

Not applicable

My sales representative said the latest version of Sense Enterprise, which was very recently released, includes the R and Python integration.  Has anyone had a chance to try it out?

I also read the announcement in Computerworld from September 2016
"Qlik will be adding R and Python integration to its data analysis tool later this month, continuing a BI trend that uses scripting languages to bulk up the power of drag-and-drop platforms"

and thought that these things are almost available.

But am i right to say, that R + Python support ist not available till now, (as far as i can see in mto - thread)?
I only wanted to say that i'm waiting for QLikView availability too.

Would be glad to hear any news about concrete timing plans...
