Qlik Sense Business / Enterpreis Cloud - ODBC

Hi all,

I know that it should be possible to connect with data bank from 3rd part. 

My question is:

Can i connect to extern data bank with ODBC or do i need also Data Transfer Tool.

If I need him does it need to be installed directly be extern data bank or it can be installed on my server?

In which cases DTT needs to be used?

Hi,

The main concerns are:

1. Is the DB open to the internet?

2. Does the DB platform have a driver in QSB?

If you answer yes to both questions, then you should be able to connect.

As far as I know, the Data Transfer Tool is supposed to sync files, not whole dbs.

So actually you can use Qlik DataTransfer to push data from on-premises to the cloud, on 3 situations:

1. Push data from a QVF - it will take each table from the datamodel and create a QVD on the cloud

2. Push files from folder - 

3. Push data from databases - it will run queries and generate QVDs on the cloud

-Enterprise doesn't have predefined ODBC - how can i connect ? that is why IT said DTT needs to be "involved" to connect with database

I know that Data Transfer Tool can push from on-premises to cloud. But I have got also one information from Qlik IT-Developer that DTT can be installed on-premises (on my PC) and push the data from database that is installed on other premises.. Exam. my PC has DTT and this DTT can reach a database that on some other server.. i am still waiting on implementation steps - i am not sure if something like this is really possible

do you know anything about this?
