Hi,
I've noticed Qlik Sense Desktop does something strange, almost creepy: it accesses not shared Windows folders. I have folders A and B, and two users, X and Y. I share from the master computer folders A with user X and B with user Y. When the users X and Y reload the Qlik Sense applications, it extracts data from both folders for both users, even though they don't have Windows permissions to access the folders.
Has this ever happened to you? Is it normal?
Thank you in advance,
Sorin.
bill.markham rwunderlich Thank you for your answers. The issue didn't happen to me and apparently they didn't give me all the info, not the right info.
The problem was that Qlik Sense Server created folders A and B in each reload, which were shared with some users using Windows permissions. But it would erase the permissions each time it reloaded data, since it apparently doesn't keep the folders' metadata, so everyone had access to everything (reloading with Qlik Sense Desktop).
So even it might be a problem, it's not a big issue.
Thank you again.
Is this using Qlik Sense Server ?
If so then permissions will be as per the AD account the Qlik Sense Services run under and not end users' AD account.
Sorry for not specifying Bill. No, I'm using Qlik Sense Desktop.
Do both users use the same version of the qvf file ?
I'd also suggest double checking the Windows permissions, by actually looking on their computers as to whether or not they can see both folders.
What specific path is used in the folder connection definition?
