Connections cannot be transferred with Sense app to QAP

At the moment, if data connections are in the Sense applications that are created by Sense desktop, when importing the apps into QAP, the connections will be uploaded to QAP.

However, it is more often that applications are created in Sense Enterprise Server (QSE), where the desktop version cannot be installed. When exporting the apps in QSE and then importing them into QAP, the connections are not transferred, causing no connections in the QAP, then the reload tasks in QAP will fail.

My idea is that no matter the apps are created by desktop or in the Sense server, they always bring the data connections. So when the apps are imported into QAP, they can be reloaded there.

Please vote, thank you very much!

Are you able to successfully reload an app in QAP where the connection name is identical to an existing connection?  I'm running into what may be the same issue where an OLE DB connection created in the desktop client has the name of the database, but the identical connection created in web-based hub has the userid in parentheses appended to the database name as the name of the connection.  Updating the name of the connection in the web-based hub will not remove the userid appended to the connection.  Reload tasks in QAP are failing because the connection (with the user name) does not exist in that environment.

I am running September 2017 Patch 1.

My current workaround (but all apps are still in development) is to choose one of the two options:

1) Create any apps first in the desktop client.

2) Split apps into loader apps which create QVDs which would run under Sense and user-facing apps under QAP which read only QVDs and do not have a database connection.  Timing of updates can be tricky with this option.

According to QLiktech you must do the next:

Qlik Sense Desktop can be utilized to maintain a 'blank' QVF (No loaded data) that contains all the data connections needed

for moving to a higher environment or bringing connections into QAP.

The process steps of adding new data connections changes to:

• Open Qlik Sense Desktop

• Create/Open QVF dedicat ion for Data Connections

• Create/Test the new data connection

• Save the QVF once satisfied connecti on is configured correctly

• Import QVF into QMC of Qlik Sense Server or QAP to add the d ata connections
