Convenient way to preserve user bookmarks

If publishing an updated app to a stream (and deleting the old one), is there a convenient way to preserve user bookmarks (not the Base bookmarks, but the My bookmarks)?

the easiest way is to publish the updated app to replace the existing app

that way all user objects and bookmarks remain intact
