Private sheets disappeared

HI.

In one of our applications, all the Non-published Private sheets disappeared, We can’t see them in the HUB nor in the QMC.
But..... If I Duplicate the App. from the shared files and import it, the sheets are there.
Any idea for what might have happened and how to solve it?

Regards,

Found the solution - Which led to another problem.
The situation is caused when a user have the ability to see other users private sheets.
As soon as he delete one of those sheets, this is what happens.
Why this “feature” exists? I don’t know.

I would suggest that you raise a case with Qlik Support so that they can look closer at the problem

Great to see that you found the root cause.

Just to be clear this is not the default configuration, it is caused by your customized security rules.

Hi.

Unfortunately this security rule was mandatory request when we purchased a product from one of your business partners whom is QLIK certified.

And still, even if it is a security rule, it doesn’t explain the strange behavior of sheets exist\non exist because a certain user deleted another user's private sheets.

For me it sums up with the lack of investment by QLIK when it comes to modern management tools. I've written about it few times here

By default the product does not allow users to see each other private assets, such as apps and sheets, so I am not clear on in what way you are claiming the product does not function as expected. It sounds like you security rule customization enables users to take actions that they perhaps should not be allowed to do. If you observe that sheets vanish without user action to deleted them, I'd suggest you raise this as a support case for further investigation.

Qlik Sense provide a option to publish private sheets, so that they become community sheets visible to other users. This is the expected way of sharing sheets among users. Private sheets should only be visible for the sheet owner until published to the community. A community sheet should only be allowed to be altered by the sheet owner or an admin.

If multiple users are given delete right by customized rules, then it will of course it will also disappear for all users when deleted.
I can not answer for the details in your current deployment, but I'd recommend a review/audit of the configuration so that it works they way you expect it to.

Hi,

Again, there is a customized rule which was one of the mandatory requests from one of your business partners. This is being checked with this partner by our local retail.

The more severe issues being caused by that are, for example, the one which is described or that the QMC shows sheets that are not to found - Sheets which were belong to the same user who was assigned with this customized rule. Again, this was recognized just now by our retail as a severe problem and they are in contact with you global support.

Thank you for your time 🙂

@sogloqlik did you ever get this resolved? I have seen a similar issue with mysterious sheets that are not listed in the QMC, but show up in the Hub.

Hi Ken.

So far this Issue Hasn't appeared again.

My best guess is that in has something to do with synchronization between the shared QVF file and the QLIK DB or corrupted QVF file.

My best advice to you is to open a service ticket.

Also, check for a "Super user" which can see\delete other user's private sheets. If you have one, remove the security roles which allow it.
