Qlik Sense Server Install failing due to Postgres

I've been attempting to install Sense server on a Windows server machine. The installation is failing, apparently due to Postgres. The log shows " Error 0x80070643: Failed to execute MSI package.", and then later:  "Failing MSI name (if any): PostgreSQL"

Excerpt of the log is below, and copies of the full logs attached. We had a "hung" installation previously - installed but we couldn't get to the QMC so we stopped all services, uninstalled, and reinstalled. Now we encounter this issue whenever we attempt re-installations.

Would very much appreciate any advice or guidance. We are installing from an administrator account. OS is Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, 64-bit machine.

Okay, I stumbled on another thread that I had somehow missed in my previous research. Seem to have solved the installation problem. Post is here:  QlikSense Server 1.1 Installation PostgreSQL Repository Installation Failed

What I did was as instructed on that post:

* Installed the Microsoft Visual C++ package (the post points to 2010 version; think I installed the most recent version

* Deleted %ProgramData%\Qlik directory (this required a server restart first, as it initially complained about another app using the folder, even though nothing was running in task manager)

* Deleted %ProgramData%\PackageCache directory

After all of the above, I was able to get a successful install with pretty green checkmarks all the way down the final installation window. Can't access the QMC in the browser, but that appears to be another issue to do with IP configuration...

Hi Brett,

I had a similar error installing Sense Server.

Unfortuenately Support couldn't help me either.

We solved the problem by uninstalling Sense Server and reinstalling it.

Be aware to use the newest version and install sense to the default directory and C-Partition.

Alternative folders may cause problems.

Redownload the installer, be sure to remove the Qlik folders in ProgramData, reboot and use new installer.
