Rename Qlik Sense Server

I installed Qlik Sense on win-i3l69ais9mr. After installed and configured, I rename the server name do SENSE.

When I try to open QMC or HUB, I see the error message

Error 500 - Internal server error

Cannot establish a connection to Qlik Sense: Qlik Sense Hub.

I tried to recreate certificates, but still old name in mmc certificates.

All services are running ok.

Any idea to restablish system?

Hi Veeren,

You are in the wrong location as per your screenshot.

you should be here: C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense

ProgramData I believe is hidden by default you need to "un-hide" it:

Hope this helps

Mike

I cannot reach Qlik Sense pages after changing the server name & hosts.cfg file.

Getting a site cannot be reached error.

Hi!

I had exactly the same issue (Error 404). Did you manage to solve the problem?

I did!

Repairing Qlik Sense fixed it.

I however reverted it back to the old hostname before I did the repair. Not sure if its a valid step though.

Sorry for the late reply.

Hi Michael,

after doing this, impossible to open the QMC or the Hub and following message in the Security Repository log:

"Not possible to decrypt encrypted string in database; this is probably due to the secrets key on server certificate has been changed and the old database value hasn't"

Do you maybe have a solution for that?

Thanks.

Yeah. I had errors in many logs after I changed this.

I think this method stopped working after Qlik changed to shared persistence model.

Did you try repair though?

You repaired it but at the end you still have the old hostname.

I guess that I will have no choice but to uninstall and reinstall after the name change....

Thank you.

It's posible that something change to version 3.0.0? 'cause neither Host.cnf file or the order of the folders are the same.

As of Qlik Sense June 2017 you also need to run the Repository bootstrap process as follows:

  • Open cmd.exe with administrative rights
  • Change the directory to the Repository install path
    • Default path C:\"Program Files"\Qlik\Sense\Repository
  • Execute the following command: Repository.exe  -bootstrap -standalone -restorehostname

If the shared persistance folder is in the server that just changed its name. The repository info has to be changed as well. The table is ServiceClusterSettingsSharedPersistenceProperties
