Qlik Sense Desktop - Converting a QlikView Data Model (video)

Qlik Sense Desktop - Converting a QlikView Data Model (video)

QlikView and Qlik Sense can address specific needs within an organization. There may be a need to provide self-service data visualization capabilities from any existing data model that has already been created with QlikView. Instead of recreating that model in Qlik Sense it can be converted fairly easily by utilizing the existing QlikView .QVW file.

IMPORTANT: In order for this to work - you will need to disable DATA LOADING Standard mode and revert to Legacy mode - instructions on how to do this are in the online help: Disable Standard Mode

Note: There are some limitations in regards to hidden scripts and section access security with Qlik Sense Desktop. The free product does not offer any security. Qlik Sense Server will address your security needs in these areas.

Watch the brief video below to see the simple process for converting a QlikView data model over to a Qlik Sense data model:

Hi Miachael,

In qlikview we create application file .qvw and we deploy it in server and publishes through publisher and end user access it through access point.

what is process of qliksense file will this also follow the same process.will developer create the qvf file and will deploy it or directly end user create this file for his analysis?

Hi Rakesh - I just saw this - apologize for the delay - in the future post these types of questions directly in the forum. With the full Sense platform you can create directly in the browser online, just like with Desktop. If you create apps in Desktop, they can be imported into the Qlik Sense platform (server) using the Qlik Sense Management Console. Stay tuned the full Qlik Sense platform will be released shortly later in Sept.
