Tips: Server tasks

"You should never launch more tasks at one time than the server has resources to handle. Services that are tasked to do more than they have resources to handle can lead to errors and automatic service restarts. To avoid this, we recommend scheduling your tasks in chains, so that tasks are triggered upon the success of a previous task."

Mattias,

I understand what you say, but how to avoid that if task 1 during the night fails your task 2 until 99 will not be scheduled as well. Leaving you with a big problem next morning.

Hi Gerrit,

It is best to set up your task schedule in smaller chains. Or if you are concerned about failures, just stagger the schedule so that there is time enough for the previous tasks to finish before the schedule triggers the next task.

The main idea here is to be aware of what the Distribution Service machine can handle and to avoid triggering more tasks at one time than the machine can handle.

Best regards,

Troy

In a task chain, if you need to make sure the chain continues if there is a failure you can put two triggers in each task - one for prior task successful and one for prior task failure.
