As for any operations made via user interface also the APIs require authentication before allowing anyone to deal with them. Few realize how to deal with the authentication phase before calling an API end-point, here a short example on how to authenticate against NPrinting before made any API call, using python.

The example attaches attempt a call to the start a task, but any and-point can be made using the same logic.

Before start, we need to download the NPrinting Certificate from the browser. One connected to the NPrinting, Browser warning us about the self-signed certificate. You should be able to download it and locate near the script.

Let's start with the required imports

Then we need to replace a number of variables used the deal with the endpoints (rows 6 to 13)

The actual authentication phase needs to be called just once, in the example function Auth(). If the authentication succeeds, the response contains a cookie called  NPWEBCONSOLE_XSRF-TOKEN. All subsequent calls need to echo the same cookie and set an header variable called  X-XSRF-TOKEN with the same value.

Qlik NPrinting is the reporting platform for QlikView and Qlik Sense. A report generation process can virtually generate a customized report for each user, starting from the same report template, based on the user profile. Also, the report distribution channel can be differentiating for users or groups, subsequently the users list is one of the critical parts to manage.

NPrinting offers an out of the box method to import users from a third party directory  here which requires accommodating the list of users to import into a preformatted Excel file and create a task to run the import process on a schedule base or just in one shot. It’s up to you to take care of the exporting process from the user’s source directory.Starting from the June 2017, NPrinting has released also a set of APIs which allows building your own importer.

Waiting for a more integrated user management solution, covered soon by the product, a couple of extensions has come out. One is the “Import Nprinting Users from Active Directory” from Erik Gustafsson (a command line tool for import users coming from AD). The other is this one, which targets a more generic LDAP and offers a web interface to connect and map the metadata.

Doing an upgrade of QlikView Server will put all installed QlikView services into Startup Type = Automatic, causing the services to start on next reboot, although previously configured to be disabled.

This may lead to undesirable results in situations where all services has been installed, although not required. One scenario is when setting up a cluster, doing a full installation of QlikView Server on each node and later disabling the QlikView Management Service on each node, except the main node in the cluster.

It is recommended to only install services required on each node in the cluster, using a custom installation, rather than disabling installed services.

In case of having QlikView services set to Startup Type = Disabled, make sure they are configured properly after an upgrade to prevent undesirable results on next reboot.

Q: Where can I download the new Qlik NPrinting version?

A: Existing Customers and Partners can download Qlik NPrinting from the official Qlik download page.

Q: What versions of QlikView are supported for NPrinting?

A: All current officially supported QlikView versions are supported to be used together with NPrinting

Existing NPrinting customer

Q: Where do I go for support if I'm an existing NPrinting customer?

A: If you are an existing NPrinting / Vizubi customer, support will continue as before. Learn more about Qlik support services or get help through the channels listed here

Q: Am I forced to upgrade to the new Qlik NPrinting version?

A: No. You can continue to use your current version of NPrinting as before. However we strongly recommend you to upgrade to Qlik NPrinting as soon as possible.

Q: Will upgrading to Qlik NPrinting affect my existing NPrinting projects?

A: No. Qlik NPrinting is fully compatible with previous NPrinting version. Except for upgrading the software, no further actions should be required.

Q: Will Qlik continue to provide updates to my current NPrinting version from Vizubi?

A: No. The current version of NPrinting from Vizubi will be discontinued and no future updates will be provided for  this version.

Q: What about my current maintenance agreement?

A: Your current maintenance agreement with Vizubi will continue as before. After expiration it will be transferred to Qlik maintenance policy, found here.

What is Qlik DataMarket?

Qlik DataMarket is a cloud-based Data as a Service offering (DaaS) with a wide range of data, ready for use with Qlik products. Example of data sets are

• currencies
• weather
• demographic data etc

Qlik DataMarket is provided using a Freemium model, with limited number of data sets available for free, and additional data sets provided through a subscription model.

Connectivity to Qlik DataMarket is embedded into Qlik Sense and as a stand-alone connector for QlikView.

How will Qlik DataMarket be licensed?

Qlik DataMarket is licensed through a separate License key and control number inside the Qlik Sense Management Console.

A limited set of data will be available for free and additional data sets can be bought, using a subscription model, through QlikBuy.

It will not be possible to license Qlik DataMarket packages (such as Essentials Package) in Qlik Sense Desktop. Only free data sets will be available in Qlik Sense Desktop.

Is it possible to preview data without a subscription?

Yes, it is possible to preview limited data from a licensed data set, without a paid subscription. However it is not possible to connect and download data to your app.

What happens to data in an app if subscription lapses?

If a subscription lapses it will no longer be possible to receive updated data. However data already stored in the data model will still be available for use within the app.

Is Qlik DataMarket only available for Qlik Sense?

Qlik DataMarket is a bundled feature in Qlik Sense 2.0, so no additional installation is required, although a separate license may be required.

For QlikView a separate custom connector is required, which is expected to be released later in 2015.

Can Qlik DataMarket be used outside of Qlik products?

Currently it's not possible to use Qlik DataMarket to feed into third party products.

Is it required to have a live internet connection to use Qlik DataMarket?

Yes, as Qlik DataMarket is provided as a cloud-based data service, internet access is required when updating / reloading data.

Qlik Apps already populated with data does not require internet access, unless the data needs to be updated.

How is data transferred from Qlik DataMarket?

Data is fetched from Qlik DataMarket's cloud service using encrypted https communication

Where is data physically stored in Qlik DataMarket?

Qlik DataMarket is hosted on Amazon AWS instances and data is stored in locations around the globe.
