Mmm ... QS... Again ... Maybe here they will give a clear answer whether you plan to develop QV or it’s already a dinosaur and you don’t have to pay for support because it makes no sense?

Our company is just annoying. We pay money for nothing, no development. All new in QS, QS, QS ... We just want to have an understanding of what is happening and simply will not pay.

We are not going to switch to QS, this is not discussed, thank.

Like it has been for the last years, all features in Sense.
QlikView is maintained and only development is regarding management of larger installations.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. QlikView is our classic or 2nd generation BI solution and it plays an important part in Qlik's portfolio. We are committed to additional investment to ensure it continues to meet the expanding requirements for scalability that global organizations require. We look forward to adding more QlikView capabilities to our Qlik multi-cloud hub, supporting QlikView and Qlik Sense co-existence.

Traditionally, we've had a single QlikView release per year, in November. This year, we released QlikView April 2019 and plan to have a November 2019 release as well. Going forward, you can expect to see a synchronized approach to QlikView and Qlik Sense releases, and we will offer patching for each QlikView upgrade, as opposed to a full install. We recommend you join the Qlik Insider webinar in November for the release updates. And, please keep an eye on the Product Innovation Blog for the latest product news.

Great to hear that Qlik is still invested in Qlikview as well. Most of that seems to be on the back-end of the tool. Could you tell us about the  plans regarding the front-end? It's been a while since we have gotten new bells and whistles on that side to work with.

Important issue which has not been well-clarified in the notes:

When opening an app, it is no longer possible to land on the App Overview screen if a default bookmark is applied.

Quite disappointing and a roadblock to installing September 2019 as far as I'm concerned since it's a major behavior change. Hopefully this will be addressed in a patch - it's as simple as allowing bookmark creation from the App Overview (in which case you would always return to that).

Hi Or, It appears you have the choice to use a bookmark or default landing sheet. Setting a default bookmark to create an app landing page You can select a sheet to be the landing page of your app by setting a default bookmark. When you open the app, the layout state and the selection state of the default bookmark are used. If you do not set a default bookmark, the app overview is displayed when the app is opened.

@Bill_BrittThat is correct as per the information I got in the beta testing thread as well. Unfortunately, neither choice achieves the required result - I would like users to land on the App Overview (which is the Qlik Sense default) regardless of whether or not default selections are applied using a default bookmark. This is how Qlik Sense has always behaved and obviously changing that without providing a workaround is an issue. It's also not clarified well in the release notes that the new default bookmark causes this behavior to change (as phrased in my post above in bold), meaning this will likely catch your customers by surprise when it happens.

As I've already suggested, this could (easily?) be handled by allowing bookmarks to be created from the App Overview page. That way, developers can control whether or not the user lands in a specific sheet or on the app overview, and it would have the added bonus of allowing the same level of control for non-default-applied bookmarks. This in turn bypasses the existing limitation where a bookmark ALWAYS takes you to a specific sheet, which is undesirable in some use cases (in particular, when users are trained to use the default bookmark to return to the starting state, and are taken to a sheet unexpectedly).

I appreciate that Qlik wants bookmarks to behave consistently regardless of whether or not they are the default bookmark, but I think in this case, they completely missed the fact that this change causes inconsistent behavior between apps that use default bookmarks and apps that do not. I'm hoping this is something that can and will be corrected soon.

Hi,

I upgraded our QlikSense testserver (singlenode) from April 2019 release to the September 2019 release. For previous releases apps were automatically migrated to the new release. Now I see that all my apps have a Migration Status of Unmigrated.

The help page  says apps will be migrated when they are opened in the hub. But that doesn't happen either.

Is this a bug? Or do I do something wrong?

kind regards,

Ton de Vries

I'm seeing the same behaviour after upgrading to September 2019. Looks like a bug to me.

I had same experience. Manually migrating all apps from QMC worked without issues.

Manually migrating 30 apps in my testenvironment is not a problem.

Almost 900 apps in production is a different piece of cake 😞

Well, the time consumption is probably going to be the same, and you can use select all apps within QMC to start the migration process for all apps at once.

Hi, I upgrade to Septiembre 2019 from Abril 2019. When I open "select data" menu on "data connections" list a error message is shown: "Connector issue: Qlik ODBC Connector Package The connector dialog can not be displayed. Make sure the connector is properly installed and compatible with Qlik Sense " In Chrome web browser console a "404" error appears when a resource is being loaded: Request URL: https://qliksensepxp.chap.junta-andalucia.es/customdata/64/QvOdbcConnectorPackage/web/selectionModel... Request Method: GET Status Code: 404 Not Found Remote Address: 10.226.128.69:443 Referrer Policy: no-referrer-when-downgrade I can not select tables on the menu but I can reload apps...

@jfkinspariThanks for the hint of selecting all apps. This will do the job.

Never the less, I do not understand why apps aren't migrated automatically after upgrading.

When you check the help June 2019  it states:

  •  Apps are migrated automatically, both during an upgrade of Qlik Sense and when importing old apps.

This changed in the September release

  • App migration is not performed automatically when starting Qlik Sense
  • An app with an engine version later than 12.0 is migrated on the fly when you open it in the hub.

Most likely this is because when migrations are done automatically, you have no control over the order that apps get migrated. This can be troubling after a update when you have numerous apps in a "My Work" stream that have no priority for migrating resources.

Also in the old version Apps where not visible untill migrated, now all apps are visible and can be used at once since migrations happen on the fly (not stating the apps will be migrated). This gives you more control over when and what Apps will be migrated.

When you want to migrate all apps at once, just use Ctrl+A and click Migrate

P_verkooijen is correct, the behaviour changed with this specific version, I should also note that as a result it is only apps from Qlik Sense 3 or earlier that absolutely need to be migrated, and they need to have come directly from that Qlik Sense 3 environment. So this should hopefully be a vanishly small portion of apps.

Hello ,

I was planning migration to Sept 19 release but I have been told that there was a bug with the column() function under some scenario.

Is there any confirmation from support this is indeed the case, and if yes when can we expect a patch release as I would like to avoid a double migration ?

Regards

Thomas

HI there:

I have a demo request for publishing a custom report, which I created.

This new report sits in the hub. How do I publish it to NPrinting? I need to set up for publication.

I posted this question, before Sept.2019 release. We just installed Sept 2019 release, and I still don't

see where to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Craig Bolton

Hello @CraigB  -

Back in May I published a blog on how to Connect Qlik Sense Apps to Qlik NPrinting.

You can find the Support Blog at this link: Qlik NPrinting 101: Connecting Qlik Sense Apps

Please let me know if this assists you with what you are trying to accomplish?

Regards,

Eva

When I use Microsoft Edge as browser the last figure in a column disappears behind the vertical scrollbar. see screenprint.  And the vertical scrollbar only appears when I move the horizontal scrollbar completely to the right of my table.

In the April 2019 release  these issues do not occur.

How can I fix this?

@vriesahm your question does not seem to be related to this release activity. Please register it as a separate question in Community, so that you can get input and suggestions from other Community members or Qlik Support. Thanks.
