So now you know what Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is and who it is mandatory for. If you need a refresher, please see the post from earlier this month.
Today we’re going to discuss how to setup MFA, what to do if you run into an issue, how to reset MFA, and how to use the recovery code.
How to Setup MFA
Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication is easy and the detailed steps (with helpful screenshots) can be found here (kb 88816). In summary you’ll login to My Qlik, navigate to the Password & Security section, then select Setup under Multi-Factor Authentication. Next, download a supported authentication app to your mobile device and scan the QR code. You’ll see a ‘Successful!’ message, DO NOT simply click continue.
First copy your recovery code and then save it somewhere. More on the recovery code later.
If you were able to follow the steps above, your MFA should be setup correctly. What does correct setup look like? Well, when you login to the QSB tenant or My Qlik, after typing in your username + password, you will be prompted to type in a 6 digit code. To get a current 6 digit code, simply open your authentication app and you will see a fresh code available. If the code is about to expire, simply wait a few seconds and a new code will show.
What to do if there’s an issue
What if the 6 digit code doesn’t work? What if I switch phones and lose access to my MFA app? In both of these instances, you will need to reset your MFA. To do so, please contact Customer Support by creating a case in the Support Portal. Make sure to provide the necessary information (kb 94337), so your MFA account can be found.
If you are facing any other MFA related issues, please contact Customer Support for further assistance by creating a case in the Support Portal.
How to reset MFA
So my MFA was reset by the Customer Support team, what’s next? Once your MFA has been reset, all you need to do is clear cache and refresh your browser, then login to the QSB tenant or My Qlik. You’ll be prompted with a fresh QR code, so you can follow the steps to setup the MFA again.
How to use the recovery code
The recovery code is a one time use code. If you are away from the device that has your MFA app and cannot access the 6 digit code, you can sign in using the recovery code. You can only use the recovery code one time. After it has been used, you should see another ‘Successful!’ message with a fresh recovery code. Make sure to save this new recovery code for the future.

What is MFA
When signing up for Qlik Sense Business, you may have noticed that you are required to setup some kind of MFA. MFA stands for Multi Factor Authentication.
What does this mean? Wikipedia defines it as: an authentication method in which a computer user is granted access only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence to an authentication mechanism: knowledge, possession, and inherence.
Essentially this means that after submitting your username and password, you will be asked to supply a code generated by an MFA application. There are a few different MFA apps to choose from. Guiding Tech put together a list that compares 5 different MFA apps for iPhone and Android.
Do you have to use a mobile device for MFA? No, MFAcan be set up with a mobile device or using desktop options like One Login, Authy etc. Follow this link to find out more.
Is MFA mandatory?
Yes and no.
MFA is mandatory for the service account owner (the person who creates the tenant). MFA is optional during a Qlik Sense Business trial period. When a trial completes and turned into a paid subscription, service account owners and tenant admins are asked to setup MFA at the next log in. Service account owners and tenant admins cannot disable MFA after conversion to a paid subscription.
MFA is not mandatory for invited users or tenant admins.
Overall Multi Factor Authentication is easy to setup and adds an extra layer of security for accessing Qlik Sense Business. Once the MFA is setup do not delete the app and be sure to save your recovery code as you may need it in the future. Need to troubleshoot? Follow this link for troubleshooting steps.
If for some reason you lose access to your MFA and need assistance, please contact Customer Support by creating a case in the Support Portal.

The functionality will be enabled by default for new installations of Qlik Sense Enterprise. However, for some upgraded environments this will be installed but switched off. This due to a process being required to upgrade the internal root certificate in environments where the certificate was generated by Qlik Sense installations prior to theJune 2019 Qlik Sense Enterprise release.
Customers wishing to use the NLP functionality can follow the steps under the Knowledge Base article below in order to enable NLP, recreate the root certificate, and for multi-node environments re-distribute the certificates.

When a user from the pool logs in the hub and opens an app he/she will consume 1 unit after 6 minutes and extra unit will be consumed thereafter in increments. For example: If the user stays in for 15 minutes, 3 units will be consumed (18 minutes) as a unit started is marked as a unit consumed. No consumption is registered if the user is logged in but idle (not opening apps, sheets,...).
When all analyzer units have been consumed, no users from the pool can access Qlik Sense, until the monthly reset occurs. To avoid lockout, coverage can be added to the subscription. Coverage is a function that allows to buy minutes packages automatically when consumed, it can either be unlimited or with a defined ceiling. For more information see Page 2 B. Here is an example in Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services (QSEoCS): Some documentation is available under "Analyzer capacity (minutes)" in License / User Allocation

Development that use cross-site resources may encounter issues when Chrome version 80 is released in the month of February 2020. An example of when issue may occur is when using "domReady". (https://www.cdnpkg.com/require-domReady)
The following may be registered in the Google Chrome Development Tools:
"A cookie associated with a cross-site resource at ....[URL]... was set without the `SameSite` attribute. It has been blocked, as Chrome now only delivers cookies with cross-site requests if they are set with `SameSite=None` and `Secure`. You can review cookies in developer tools under Application>Storage>Cookies and see more details athttps://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5088147346030592andhttps://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5633521622188032."
Even though this comes from the Chrome console, other browsers as Mozilla and Edge may also displaying similar warnings.
The above may currently happen on the latest Qlik Sense Enterprise and QlikView releases.
This is cause by a new CORS security standard/feature that browsers are now enforcing, or beginning to enforce as developers begin to opt in. More information is available herehttps://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5088147346030592and herehttps://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5633521622188032as the above error mentions.
R&D is currently working on a solution, and updates regarding this will be posted here once this information becomes available.Known Workaround(s):
For now, the SameSite security feature is not being enforced by default. If you are using Chrome versions 79 and below, the default setting for SameSite is "default", which is equivalent to "disabled". You can check it herechrome://flags/#same-site-by-default-cookies. In Chrome versions 80 and newer, "default" will be equivalent to "enabled", which enforces this security setting and will require an update to Qlik Sense and QlikView to prevent requests from being blocked. Until an update is provided, a temporarily workaround would be to change the SameSite setting to "disabled".
Edit the domain policy for where a list of specific domains are allowed for the legacy SameSite behavior to be used. See Cookie Legacy SameSite Policies.
Qlik will have official patches and service releases for both Qlik Sense and QlikView available on the Wednesday's, Feb 12th 2020 delivery.
Licensee patches will be available on demand for Qlik Sense as of Feb 3rd 2020, please contact Qlik Support.
