Source documents are documents that you don't want to make available on the accesspoint.

So it is important that you don't mount the source document path to the QlikView Server, otherwise they will show under User documents and this will be populated on the accesspoint.

The documents under Source are usually use for distribution to the QlikView Server or to folders mounted under the QlikView Server or distribute via email.

Hi Anil,

Further to the explanation above. Source Document folder appears when Publisher is installed and licensed. Source documents content (QVW's) overwrites user documents folder QVW's during a deployment. Therefore, source documents are used by only Administrators.  Authoristation settings are configured within source documents which, overwrites user documents when documents are deployed.

A typical deployment using Publisher from a folder perspectives is as follows:

Publisher uses both source and user documents folders.  Administrators configure user access and reload tasks within source document folder against QVW's.  After reload/loop and reduce has successfully completed applications/documents are deployed to the user folder,  where business user access QlikView aaplications/documents.

As as a general rule, business users do not access contents stored within the source document folder.

Hope this is helpful?

Steve

One more question

If the same QVW overwrites the User Documents why can't I point the same location for Source and User Documents?

Because the whole point is that you can have a copy of the document that you are working with without disturbance.

In the source the QVW is/are not visible for the users and all development will not be visible unless you save and close the document. During development the QVW cannot reloaded and distributed by the QDS, the document will be owned by another process.

Kind regards/Mvh/Cordialement
