Can you bypass QlikView Publisher and manually place a file on Access Point?

For a Disaster Recovery test we want to take a QVW from tape and restore it to the UserDocuments folder and have it available on the Access point.

For example let's say we have a dashboard called Inventory and on 5/10 we backup the QVW from Production to tape.

Then on 6/1 only for the purpose of demonstrating to the users that we can restore from tape replace the Inventory.QVW in User Documents on the Access Point in UAT.

The hope is that users can login to the UAT access point (different environment) and see the data from 5/10.

I have not had success with this the dashboard becomes unavailable when I try.

Can this be done?

Thanks

Dan

Yes.

Create a task with everything disabled (forget about any triggers) except for the Distribute tab. Specify the destinataries on the Distribute tab and run the task (manually) once from the QMC Status screen.

That way the Publisher will create the correct Meta Data that describes (amongst others) who should have access to this document. If you just drop a file in the User Documents folder, there will be no such Meta Data and the QVS will have no clue about who should see this document in the AP, let alone be able to open it.

Best,

Peter
