Document information in QMC disappears

From time to time, some documents disappear in Accesspoint, when the document information on QMC is checked all the Select category, attributes are missing, does anyone know how this can happen? The qvw. META files are created but cannot read them. If anyone knows I would be greatful.

Can you confirm that category information is lost? The description right now seems to indicate so.

If only category information is lost (meaning the files show up if the AccessPoint is not sorted by category), then the .meta file might be the problem.

To troubleshoot this, you could do the following:

  • As this happens from time to time, what is being done usually to fix this? Are categories being manually re-entered?
  • Are the documents being distributed by a Publisher? Is the Publisher / Distribution task set up correctly? What could happen is that the Publisher task does not have the Categories in it, overwriting the User Documents with blank values. See this article  (kb 000050007) for something similar.
  • When the problem happens, you can grab the current .meta file and export it into .xml format using this article (kb 000026246). This might help you understand if the categories are still there (meaning there's a problem reading the .meta file), or if they are gone, meaning they were actually removed by a manual interaction.
