Getting User Named CAL from the Server when QV.exe starts
Is there a way to automatically have the QlikView client get the CAL from the QlikView server when it starts up without having users do a connect to the server?
I don't think this is possible. I just tried to write a batch script that would automatically open a file in the server, but the license does not get leased when done this way. So I think your users would need to do it manually. However, they only have to release a license once every 30 days so it's only minimally disruptive...
Figured out how to do it. Just set the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\QlikTech\QlikView\Settings 7\LeasedLicenseServer registry key to the QVS server at the installation and the client will automatically will get the leased license CAL.
