Key length has reached its maximum. The only possibility is to recreate it from scratch.

Dear All,

I did start at the company moment ago and received the message yesterday:

Key length has reached its maximum.

please support with:
'The only possibility is to recreate it from scratch.'
QlikView will accept 4 user key changes in a document. After that, you will get the error message “Key length has reached its maximum” and the document will not open any more. The only possibility is to recreate it from scratch.

Kind regards

Michael

Hello @MichaelGiersch,

Based upon the error message you reported, you are attempting to open QVW/QVF files in QlikView Desktop Personal Edition which you did not create yourself. Is this accurate? QlikView Desktop Personal Edition is a free/unlicensed version of QlikView. One of the limitations of QV Desktop Personal Edition is that you can only open QVW/QVF documents that you created. If you attempt to open a document that you didn't create, you are prompted to use a Document Recovery attempt. With QV Desktop Personal Edition, a user is allowed only four Document Recovery attempts. If more than four attempts are made, the error you are reporting is returned. Please refer to the QlikView Personal Edition FAQs for more information.

To proceed, you will need to license your license your instance of QV Desktop. Refer to article How to License QlikView Desktop Client for more details.

@Chip_Matejowsky thank you very much!

I will try it.

Another question. As it is for a company, how can I find the cost to buy a license to use it?

Kind regards

Michael

@

it is little more complex and trying to use not mine. I did use the Desktop version via remote connection last 2 months.
New employee did try to open it yesterday on her PC with a 'remote connection' and opened QV and closed it after that. Since then I am not able to update the 'revenue' and 'order-in' tabs.

Kind regards
Michael

Hi @MichaelGiersch,

Your company's Qlik account manager can assist you with licensing questions for QlikView or other Qlik products. If you aren't sure who your AM is, you can chat with a Qlik Customer Support representative to find out.

If your complany plans on using QlikView Desktop to view/use apps created by other users, a licensed copy will need to be used.
