Named and Document CALs had been reset to 0 assigned

USER CALs and DOCUMENT CALs have disappeared from the System/Licenses/<Qlikview Server>/Assigned CALs screen

We tried starting the individual QV services on the server... and then tried a server RESTART.

Now, after the RESTART, the count of the NAMED CALs is slowly rising; appears to be when someone (who USED to have a NAMED CAL) logs in, the system keeps track on that user.  The DOCUMENT CAL number is NOT increasing now, however...

How to again get back all license details in QMC, please help me to solve this issue.

Hi @AS_A,

Based on your description, it sounds like the CalData.pgo file became corrupted and was recreated. Do you have a current backup of this file? If yes, you should be able to restore it to resume the previous configuration prior to the start of this issue. Refer to the following articles for more information:

If you do not have a backup of the CalData.pgo file, then you'll have to assign the Document CALs per document individually to users. Refer to Qlik Support article How to assign a document CAL in the QlikView Management Console.

You'll also want to ensure that Dynamic CAL assignment for Named User CALs is not configured in QMC > System > Licenses > QlikView Server > Client Access Licenses > General tab, otherwise, any user who opens an app on the AccessPoint will be assigned a Named User CAL. Refer to this QlikView Server Help entry for more details.

Hi @AS_A,

Yes you can restore the CalData.pgo file when Dynamic CAL assignment is configured. When the CalData.pgo file is restored, CAL assignments will be restored to what they previously were when this file was current.

Yes, once file is restored, you'll be able to configure Dynamic CAL assignment so that going forward, it will be in use.

Getting "failed to load latest data from CalData.pgo files in server", because of this we are not getting Cal's details in QMC. We have 500+ licenses assigned to users, users are able to access the reports in access point, but issue is details are not showing in QMC and due to this we are not able to assign licenses to new users. help me to solve this error.

Thanks

Hi @AS_A,

As I stated previously, it seems that the CalData.pgo file has become corrupted. Suggest that you restore this file from backup as detailed in the article I previously provided.

Hi @Chip_Matejowsky

Can we replace the backfiles when Dynamic CAL assignment for Named User CALs is enabled in QMC? what will happen if we do so, and can we enable this Dynamic CAL assignment again once CalData.pgo issue is resolved?
