Hi @Rompanen,

Typically this error is returned when there are more users attempting to open QVWs from the AccessPoint than there are available CALs. There should be information about Session CAL assignment and usage in the QVS Event logs.  So suggest that you review these logs and count up the total Session CALs in use when a specific user attempted to open a QVW.

Another reason this error could be returned is if you have some malformed or corrupted .PGO files in the QVS Root folder or QVS node local folder (%ProgramData%\QlikTech\QlikViewServer).  Check these directories for entries such as "CalD" or a string of Chinese characters and if present, delete them.

There were some bugs relating to this issue in the 11.20 build version. So if you're still running 11.20, upgrade QVS to a supported version - 12.50 or 12.60.

@Rompanen based on the error message being seen you all session cals are in use.

Session CAL

A Session CAL allows a single named or anonymous user on a single QlikView client to access to access any QlikView document that resides on the QlikView Server. Session CALs form a pool of licenses that are automatically assigned to users on a first-come-first-serve basis. When a user requests access to an application, they are automatically allocated a Session CAL to access the document for the duration of their session. When the session ends, the license is reallocated to the pool of Session CALs. A session CAL has a minimum session time of 15 minutes. This means that session CALs cannot be re-added to the pool before the minimum session time.

An organization has 50 users and 10 QlikView documents. Each user accesses all of the documents infrequently. Given the non-concurrent document usage, a pool of Session CALs is an appropriate licensing solution for this organization.
