QlikView EE installation on 2 Servers

Good morning,
Lately we have been disucssing the possibility of installing the QVDS,QVS in server1 ( Back-End)
and the QVS QVWS(Front-End) in Server 2. so we wan two split the work on two servers, Server1 its only job is to reload QV applications and server2 its job is to open the applications.
can we do this using the same licence (we have one Entreprise Edition licence) ?

Is there any good document we can follow

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

No you can not install QVS on two Servers. If you want more QVSs You have to add to the license. Standard EE license has one QVS.

But you don't need QlikView Server on the node you do the reload on, if you have a publisher license.

Hi @yassinemhadhbi,
@Maria_Halley has provided you the correct information regarding the need of a Publisher license being required in order to install the QDS service on a separate Windows server.  Refer to the online Qlik Help for further information:

Having two QVS instances installed on two separate Windows server requires a Cluster provision within your License Enablement File (LEF).  The LEF would need to contain an entry like NUMBER_OF_CLUSTER_NODES; 2 (number of nodes in the cluster).  You can use the Manual LEF Checker URL to see what provisions your QVS license has.

The license counts the number of QlikView Server Services (QVS) you have. So if you have a license with 1 server, you can have 1, but it can be "anywhere".

As long as you also have a publisher license you can separate the servers on the same license.

In the example above you have listed 2 QVS. That will not work.

But you can have Server1 with QVS/QWS and server2 with QDS. Then you also have to decide where the Management Service and the Directory Service connector goes.

@Chip_Matejowsky  Do you have any input here?

Good morning Maria,

Thank your for your response and for your precious time.

I just wanted to know, if I install only the QVDS in one server to  reload the QV applications. would the server function normallay without QVS ? would the QVDS be able to reload data ?

Thank you in advance.

As long as you have a publisher license you can run QVS on one server and the QDS on another.

Here are some more information on QlikView architecture
