QlikView Infrastructure Add-On to AMP QSE SaaS?

Hi, I have a very urgent issue, I hope someone can help me.

My customer has QlikView Server with 5 Named and 10 Document CAL.

In the past months, driven by Qlik account managers, we convinced the client to carry out an AMP with the prospect of migrating everything to Qlik Sense SaaS in the future.

Last week, the QlikView Access Point no longer displayed any apps because the TIMELIMIT had expired. I was told to specify the new SLK, which I did, but when I applied the license, the QMC changed its appearance, becoming a hybrid between QlikView Server and Publisher.

I was unable to assign Document CAL licenses: can I still use licenses with domain\user authentication, or not?
Moreover, the Access Point was not reachable—can I still use it and allow users to access the Access Point on the client’s server?

Is there a guide or tutorial for configuring this new QMC?

I managed to get my Partner Manager to extend the TIMELIMIT by two weeks and restored a backup of the machine, but I can't find answers to my questions, which makes me very uneasy because time is running out, and I need to find a solution...
Please help me 😞

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Hi @mike_spada,

With the SLK you're replacing the Document CAL assignment on specific docs with the more general Analyzer access. To assign Analyzer access to users, navigate in the QlikView Management Console (QMC) to System > Licenses and click "License" under Signed License Key. This will open 2 tabs - Signed License Key and Professional and Analyzer access. Select the Professional and Analyzer access tab > Analyzer and under Assigned Users, click the Manage Users icon. Then you can use the Search for Users or Manual Input of User Name to add users to Analyzer accessclick Ok then Apply.

QlikView Server Help entry Professional and Analyzer Access has more details.

Hi Mike,

try to enable the flag "Allow dynamic assignment for Analyzer access" under System - License - Professional and Analyzer access and then try to access to Access Point with users credentials. Do they appear on the list of authorized users?

Hi,

Can you share the LEF associated with the SLK, without any sensible info ? (like the licence number).
We'll need it to help you.

Also don't hesitate to open a P0 case to Qlik Support !

Partner Support can give me info about this, in your opinion?

Waiting news from you 🙏🏼

Yes indeed Partner Support should give you any hint about this.

Regarding your LEF, and by the AMP, the Doc CAL are converted to Analyzer/Basic user and Named CAL to Full/Professional user.

You cannot use CAL assignation anymore, but you can affect Analyzer/Professional to domain\usernam users. No problem about this for me.

For the AccessPoint, you should be able to use it. Can you share your QlikView version please ?

Oh, you're reassuring me a bit!
I'll upgrade to QlikView Server May 2023, last patch.

@mike_spada

The SLK comes with a publisher, this will cause the tasks to disappear. The publisher has more functionality than using reload engine. It is needed for publishing to Qlik Sense and Cloud. This is documented in the help and in the below article.

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/May2024/Subsystems/QMC/Content/QV_QMC/QMC_Documents.htm

There are instructions on how to create tasks in the publisher here.

Thank you Maria,

I can create tasks on Publisher. Anyway, at the moment, I want to apply  the SLK and continue to use Access Point on customer's server, and I want that users can use the qvw file as they actually do. Ok, now they have Document CAL, now with SLK they haven't them, but I wish they could access using their AD credential, as they are doing now, with all Section Access working. This is the part that I don't know to do and for what I cannot find any help or documentation...

If the users could log in with their AD credentials before, they should still be able to do it. There are no change using SLK. You need to make sure that the user has a license and that you set up the right access in the distribution part of the task. Note that access to a document is not controlled by the license.

Ok, thank you.

But how I can assign a license to an user? Users actually have Document CAL, they will be converted into Analyzer: where I must assign a license?

>Note that access to a document is not controlled by the license.

Ok, so how can I make the user access only to a specific qvw, where actually I do this with Document CAL?

Thank you.

M.
