Hello, Mario.

Last week I was in the Business Discovery World Tour in Madrid (Spain), and John Callan (Senior Director, Global Product Marketing, QlikTech) talked about QlikView.Next and Natural Analytics in one session. My conclusions about his speech are the following:

  • Natural analytics is an optimization of data structures and the analytical query engine, as well as an improvement of QlikView interface, allowing easier selections and a higher usability, The goal is that the user only needs to use innate skills for an interactive experience, visualization and collaboration.
  • They consider four innate analytics skills by which humans naturally evolved capability for decision-making under stress:
    1. Pattern recognition
    2. Outlier detection
    3. Sorting
    4. Categorization / Relevance Detection
  • They consider four innate analytics behaviors:
    1. Association
    2. Comparison
    3. Anticipation
    4. Narration

So their effort for the next version of QlikView is to allow these skills and behaviors to be easily applied in analytics.

Some screens of the new QlikView were shown, and it will be all web-based, with improvements to make selections and navigate the data, being HTML5 compliant for different devices and sizes. All is in a browser, analytics and development. The script is edited by a web feature and it is compatible with QlikView 11 script, but the interface objects as tables, charts, etc. are not built in QlikView Desktop as today we do, and they are working to create an assistant to make the migration easy for us, but it will not be automatic. QlikView 11 will be supported only for 3 years once QlikView.Next will be launched, that will be probably in some months.

Hi Mario,

I have put some thoughts about QlikView.next on my blog, here:

http://www.quickintelligence.co.uk/further-qlikview-next-thoughts/

As Alejandro said, here is a good place to look for marketing type information on the product:

http://qlik.com/next/

This recent post on the QlikView blog talks a bit about the next version, and has a couple of videos showing just how neat the new chart objects look:

http://community.qlik.com/blogs/theqlikviewblog/2013/11/08/ishiness-or-keeping-an-overall-sense-of-w...

It may be some time before the product is fully live and 'out there', but hopefully we will keep being treated to glimpses of how good it is going to be.

Steve
