QlikView unable to acquire valid license on desktop version installed on server

We have a desktop version of QlikView installed on our server.  We now get this when we attempt to open the app:

The license information:

I believe the issue is the TIMELIMIT, however, I don't know why it is there.  There is not a lot of information about the TIMELIMIT, except to suggest it is an evaluation version.  Where do I begin to address this issue?

The service account doesn't require a CAL for QlikView Server to function, however if you are planning on leasing a license for QlikView Destkop, a CAL is required. Refer to Qlik Support article Troubleshooting QlikView License Lease for more information.

Hi @SMC_DStanley,

Any questions regarding licensing should be directed toward your Qlik Account Manager. If you aren't sure who that is, reach out to Qlik Customer Support.

@SMC_DStanley you can use a license lease from the QV server when you have a User or Professional CAL assigned to this user

https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/How-To-Lease-A-License-From-QlikView-Server-...

  1. Open QlikView Desktop
  2. Remove the license from QlikView Desktop, it should display Personal Edition in the header
  3. Menu: File => Open in server
  4. Enter qvp://servername or accespoint url
  5. Choose the correct authentication method and click Connect
  6. You should receive a leased license from the QlikView server

Following these steps I received this:

This seems odd, since I thought the service account is not required to have a CAL.

@Chip_Matejowsky indeed for administrative tasks you do not need a CAL.
Then you are limited to control the QMC

As I stated and @Chip_Matejowsky also confirmed you need a license to edit a document.
Only a User or Professional CAL can lease a license.

Back in the day's you needed a QlikView Local Client licence to use the desktop and a separate to access documents in the accesspoint. Since license lease you only need 1 license.
