Qlikserver upgrade

Hi to all, we are going to upgrade our qlikview server 12.0 to the last release 12.4. Do we need to pay extra fees or the license we have is valid also for the new release?

Thank you,

Gianfranco

Thank you!

Do we have to upgrade also the client version after upgrading the server?

Well - most customers use the browser as a client and then you won't have to do any upgrade steps.

When it comes to the Windows client you don't have to upgrade unless there is some specific new functionality on the server-side that demands the new client version - which it is less of nowadays for QlikView. However I would plan to do an upgrade if not at the same time as the server at least in a reasonable future after the server upgrade.

I want to add one thing to Petter's comments, it could be that your license will NOT be able to run things, the key aspect is the ProductLevel line in the License Enabler File which you will find via QMC\System\License\QlikView Server\QlikView Server License tab and the LEF area, look for the ProductLevel line there and check the date on that line, if it is not April, 2019 or later, that is going to be an issue, but if it is more current than that, then you should be good to go.

I agree with Petter regarding client, if you are using Ajax client, then there is no client component to upgrade, but the users may need to do a web browser cache clearing to get things working properly in the new release.  The other thing you should be covering here is reading all the initial release Release Notes docs for each interim release to be sure you are aware of all new features and changes in the product and you should also obviously conduct thorough testing in a test environment on the new release prior to updating production too.

Here are the links to the What's New for each of the releases in your case:
