Qlikview Security
Hi,
I want to restrict the user for following scenarios on the same report:
For example: I have a Branch Dimension Table, Division Dimension Table and Sales Fact.
Now Branches are: Los Angeles (LA), New York (NY), Chicago (CH), Houston (HO)
Division are: Western, Eastern, Central
I want to setup my security in such a way that the Manager from Western Division cannot see the Sales Fact details for Eastern and Central. Similarly Eastern and Central Division Managers can only view there set of Sales Fact Details only.
But I have Developed the report at the CORP level where the Board of Directors can see all the Divisions and its related sales fact in the report.
How can I setup a security in the same report for the 3 Managers on the Division Level?
Thanks,
H

H,
See "Section Access" with dynamic data reduction. It is explained in details in the documentation.

If you have Publisher, you can do a distribution based on user and data reduction also.

Make sure you have a table that connects users to the respective division they should see and then use section access ans Michael says.
Check the example in the help and you will be up and running in no time.

Hi John,
I see your point but the thing is I am somehow unable to connect the User_Access_table to setup the security.
Thanks

Hi Sunil,
I got that one right from the Qlikview manual.
But the thing I am trying here is to maintain a external USER_Access_Table in the Data Warehouse itself to dictate the security in Qlikview.
For Example: If I make any change in the USER_Access_Table like change the USER Name, Delete a record or add a new user access record it should automatically link it with the Qlikview security model so I do not have to again define it in the section access.
I hope i am some what clear on the security requirement.
Thanks,
H
