Qlikview job failing on random days with same QDS error....???

Hi All,

we have a Qlikview app which usually run around 1.30 Hr daily, it suddenly fails some times with same error QDS exception.

Strange thing is it will run successfully with manual trigger..

Bit strange that why it is happening on random dates there is no pattern to job failure days. but the error remains the same.

QDSMain.Exceptions.TaskFailedException..

Please find the attached error log and let us know what might be reason for this random failure. Thanks in advance.

Hello @vishalgoud,

From the snippet of the task log you provided, we can see "The Source Document was NOT reloaded successfully. ", which means that the reload failed at the document level.  To further troubleshoot, you'll need to review the document log (also known as the script log) of the QVW associated with this scheduled task. If document logging is enabled, it will be stored in the same directory in which the QVW file is housed. If document logging is not enabled, you will need to open the QVW file in QlikView Developer, click Settings > Document Properties > General tab and ensure the Generate Logfile checkbox is ticked. Then run the reload task so that the document log is generated. See the Qlik Support article "How To Enable QlikView Document Reload Log " for more information.

If you need assistance after reviewing the document log, post the document log and any questions you may have in this thread.

Thanks Much for you reply, don't have failed log as of now we didn't saved it on the day when it failed. and from the last 2 days its going well not failing.

Do we have to wait till the day when it fails again or any other way to check the reason for the failure...??

Please find the above attached task summery log from QMC .....!!

Thanks Again.

When you open this particular QVW in QlikView Desktop and select Settings > Document Properties > General tab, is the checkbox for "Timestamp in Logfile Name" ticked? If not, then each successive reload of the app will overwrite the document log.  If this is the case, then you'll need to wait for another reload failure in order to see any errors in the log.

In order to configure QlikView to generate a document log for each reload occurrence, you'll need to tick the above checkbox as described in the article I mentioned yesterday.

Multiple log files, one for each reload (recommended):

  1. Open QlikView desktop client
  2. Open the QlikView application that should be logged
  3. Go to Settings > Document Properties...
  4. Go to General tab
  5. Check the "Generate Logfile" checkbox
  6. Check the "Timestamp in Logfile Name"
  7. Press OK to save the settings and close the dialog
  8. Each reload will now generate a log file named as the QVW file and the timestamp of the reload in the same folder as the QVW file

Thanks Much Chip_matejosky,

As suggested generated logs for each run and job is failing from the last 3 days with different error.

attached the Document log file, please go through it and let us know what might be the reason for this irregular job failure.

Little back ground : we recently migrated to Azure cloud environment and also from Qv11 to Qv12.

Data source is Oracle.

Thanks Much in advance.

For context, please provide the full document log which errors out. Also, I encourage you to research the errors present in the logs yourself and then ask the community specific questions you may have.
