Reassign my Personal Edition license to the new machine/user domain.

Hi Guys,

As my company is going to undergo a domain change and my qlikview is Personal Edition.

Is there a possibility that the Qlikview support can  Reassign my Personal Edition license to the new machine/user domain?

If anyone knows of anything, would be great to let me know of the steps or guide on it!

There won't be any purchase of licensing with that mentioned as it's not within my means to convince

Hello @NewbieinQ,

There isn't a license associated with QlikView Desktop Personal Edition, so it is not possible to reassign a license since there isn't one.

Thanks for highlighting that. With that mentioned, is there any way i can still use my qvw files after the domain change? Understand that the personal edition is tagged to the hostname which will be changed

Hi @NewbieinQ,

You can recover up to four documents only, unless you fully license QlikView Desktop. This is a limitation of Personal Edition (free version). Refer to the section "What is Document Recovery?" in the previously provided article.

I assume you have more than four documents, so suggest that you back up the load scripts so you can rebuild them after the domain change.

Hi @Chip_Matejowsky ,

Thanks for this. Is there any way I can see how many documents I can recover?

Hi @NewbieinQ

From the article:

  • When you recover a QlikView document created with a previous installation, it will apply your new user key to ALL documents created using the previous installation, and not just that particular document.

So my mistake, Document Recovery should allow you to open all of your QV Desktop PE apps.
