Sql needs on the QlikviewServer

Hello Guys,

I have a question. I need to connect Qlikview to a remote Sql Server. What should I install on the Server. Sql Client and what else? I know that thru ODBC you can connect from Qlikview to the Sql Server but what are the requirements needed on the Server regarding sql connection.

Hello,

As far as I know, you only need the ole db/odbc driver to pull data from your database in QlikView running local machine. Once you load it into qlikview, I'd recommend you to store it into temporary QVD files, and then work against them, instead against the database itself.

You don't need any additional software in your Sql Server. You may need as well to open some ports to connect between them and QVS <-> QV Desktop.
