Tasks are failing intermittently - Document log has stopped half the way

Any idea?

Some of my tasks are failing occasionally with Document logs aborted half the way.

I mean that there is no error message or warning in my document log.

Thanks & Regards,

Saravana Prabhu

Have you looked at the Distribution Service logs ... C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\Log\20130204\{Time} - {Document Name}\TaskLog.txt

It might give you more info than the qvw.log file.

Hi B,

I know that, it was not helpful. Even there only part of document log is available. In Task log I could see below statements.

The source document was not reloaded successfully.

...

..

General Script Error.

That's All.

Thanks & Regards,

Wow,

there are a lot of mysterious things that may cause the famous "General Script Error". A fews things I often bump into that you can check:

  • If a SUB definition contains an error, QV won't tell you but will abort all processing. Sometimes silently, sometimes with GSE.
  • CALLing a SUB that doesn't exist may also cause a GSE but I'm not sure.
  • Errors in Section Access always cause the execution to halt, but they won't let you know why. Rather obvious, that one.
  • many more

Is it a fixed place where your reloads fail? You can use TRACE statements to get near to the exact spot...

Good luck,

Peter

I normally look at the statement right about this error and start there. This is normally where the problem is.
