View qvw Script when downloaded thru access point

Hi,

I am using 9.0 SR5

Is there a way I can view the qvw script in a Reduced OR Distributed qvw (Distributed meaning as in access point)? .

So, if the file is downloaded thru access point and the edit script dialog is opened, the script should be visible and not the binary filename

Currently, the binary filename appears when i go to edit script.

Any leads?

Thanks,

Siddharth

Per default behavior, a document distributed by publisher (note Publisher, not in a QVS reload where no Publisher license is activated), that is when the document is reloaded from source document to user document, the script will be stripped for security. I want to remember a setting that overrides this behavior, but I cannot swear on it.. Maybe it's just in my mind. Maybe someone else can verify or deny this.

If I can remember from memory, you are refrerring to the 8.5 setting, where one could control this.

Why would they strip it off 9.0 onwards?

Right, you used to be able to set the script to carry through a reload.

Removing it is a security measure I guess, even though you could control it before, just that it took additional configuration to make sure you were on the safe side.

Hi, guys.

I also remember that we could managed this option - save original script for user document or clear it and use binary load...

Have somebody found any options for manage it in QV11 (or maybe 9, 10) ?

I need it now...

Thanks a lot

This was removed for some reason. I have requested that it be changed back, but as of now I am not sure it will be. The last version that you could set this was in version 8.5

Hold on a second, this is probably not going to come back. You have to consider the script a part of the back-end of the architecture, and to publish that to the User Document (front-end resource) is not something you want to do.

I'm guessing this is exactly why it was removed, since it is very much by design that a distribution of a document strips the script and connection strings and such, before "exposing" the document to users.

Yes, you maybe right. However, it has been requested numerous times by end users. In version 8.5 you had three options that you could choose from. Blank, Binary load and leave the script.
