license transferring

Hi,

 

We purchased a QlikView package in 2014, which includes a server license + 5 user CALs.

two users have since left the company , and I'd like to transfer one of their licenses to another user. I do not have their old PCs (they have left long ago) so I cannot transfer th license from one machine to another.

 

What can I do? I have the license key & control number, but the license installation fails.

User CALs are assigned and removed in the QkikView admin interface, you don’t need their computers.

Hi @Dubek,

Are you referring to QlikView Server or QlikView Desktop?

If QlikView Server, @henrikalmen is correct in that you do not need to remove any licenses from the end user's computers for QlikView Server Named User CALs. Named User CALs are managed in the QlikView Management Console (QMC) > System > Licenses > QlikView Server > Client Access Licenses tab > Assigned CALs tab.

To remove a Named User CAL from a user, click the delete icon (red X) for the username and then click Apply. Please refer to Qlik Knowledgebase article Restrictions of (Named) User CALs in QlikView Server for details regarding the quarantine period for Named User CALs for when they can be assigned.

If QlikView Desktop, you would apply a stand alone QlikView Desktop license by following article How to License QlikView Desktop Client, or lease a license to the QlikView Desktop from QlikView Server by following article How to Lease a License from QlikView Server to QlikView Desktop.
