Above or Below function in Pivot table

We use 4 stages (20, 40, 60, 80) to track the progress of a sale. We want a report with various ID info (Company, Sales Rep, Product, etc) in a pivot table with the horizontal dimension being one of these four stages.

In the third row, you can see that the sale went 'backward' - i.e went from stage 60 in Nov/14 to stage 20 in March/15. We want to highlight any sales where they've gone backward.

What I want to do is highlight cells where the date is later than any date in a cell to the right of it. The expression is just "OnDate", which is the field in our database that marks any changes to an opportunity.

Is this where I would use the "above" or "below" functions? Do I use them in the background colour of the expression or the dimension?

(Because the Stage Progress dimension is pulled horizontally, I figured that's where "above" and "below" make the most sense, but I really have no experience with these functions, and the documentation is, as usual, insipid.

Thanks for any insights.
