Anyone else experienced Qlik Rude ?

Hi all,

But I had a disappointing & unhelpful conversation with a Qlik Salesperson today.

I have dealt with some very helpful Qlik Sales people through the company so they are not all bad.

This makes me wonder if this was because I required 1 license.

I was interested in purchasing a QlikView license  so that I could open documents

created by other users\companies etc... at home.

Currently I cannot do this due to the QlikView license restriction.

I was aware that this license would probably cost over £1000 ($1500) .

I was basically told that I didn't know what I was talking about and they couldn't understand why I needed the license.

Then towards the end the salesperson starting talking about Qlik Sense so I had to end the conversation.

I am happy to be in the wrong especially if it saves me some money,

what I do not like is when salespeople :

  •      do not listen.
  •      do not understand and won't admit it.
  •      don't let the customer speak.

Just a few questions:

  • Why do Qlik make it so difficult to purchase licenses ?
  • Why are QlikView and Qlik Sense license restrictions not the same ie: NONE ?
  • Why is it so difficult for Qlik to provide a single user developer option for their software, like Sql Server does ?

Finally I have never had such a disappointing experience from any company I was looking to spend so much money with.

I would be interested if anyone else had tried to purchase a single license from Qlik and had a similar experience.

I have a high regard for Qlik staff and the products they provide but this has made a bad start to my weekend.

Can it be that you work for the NSA and you like it to sniff in other people's data?

This is particularly an issue of data security, why it should not be possible to get such a licence!

At home you can work with the personal editon - cost nothing - but not with foreign data, and that is right so.

Hello Mark,

I'm very sorry to hear that you have had a poor experience. I have referenced this post internally for follow up.

You can also feel free to email me directly if you would like to share additional feedback.

I hope that you have a great weekend!

Best Regards, Sara

Thanks for the response Sara.

The only reason I did not put this on social media was out of respect

for the rest of the Qlik staff who have been great.

Thanks

Hi Sinan ( and Sadha),

In the end I didn't purchase any license, although the initial sales call did indicate this might be possible.

I might revisit this next year depending on my work situation.

This is how easy it is to get the business intelligence stack from Microsoft which is the only other BI tool I use apart from Qlik.

I know there may be several reasons why Qlik do not do this but it would be great if they did.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the update. I have SQL Server 2012 and Visual Studio has some nice features, but being able to buy a Qlik license online would be an amazing convenience for everyone.

BTW, I really like your YouTube videos.
