Are 3 dimension pie charts possible?

I have a pie chart stacked on top of another pie chart.  When I add a third dimension, it does not add an even smaller pie chart on top of the previous 2.

If this design isn't possible, what is a good alternative?  We want to see how many hours were spent working on a project by department, project, developer.  A triple stacked pie chart would work wonderfully, as we are trying to see all 3 measures at once with as minimal amount of charts spread over the sheet as possible.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The grid chart worked, but we had too many records to make any sense of the visuals.  Ended up deciding to go with 3 separate funnel charts, with the largest values being on top first.
