Button action - Show Information

In the help files, under Button Properties -> Actions -> Show Information, is the following:

Shows the associated information, such as a text file or an image for the field

specified by Field. This function does not work in AJAX client.

But nowhere does it tell you how to associate information to a field.

Could someone show me how to associate a text file or an image to a field?

With thanks
James

What exactly you want to do. Can you let us know little deeper about your requirement?

In the 'Properties' window of the object, go to 'Caption' and at the bottom, you will see 'Help Text' with a textbox underneath it. You can put your text or expression for text to be displayed here.

Thanks for the reply, but this is not related to Show Information.

Show Information is at a field level, and apparently allows association of a text file or image to a field.

I want to understand how this works, as the ability to show information at a field level might be helpful in providing interactive help for users. Sadly, the QV documentation is lacking in this area.

Thanks

Thanks!

I've not done much myself with this functionality, so can't vouch for how it will work under Ajax, but I think what you want to be looking at is Meta Data, as described in this post:

Metadata

Hope that helps,

Steve

I think this can be used where you have loaded an image as a field (using the Bundle Info load). When you add the action using this image field and click on the button you will get a pop up box show the image of the selected field item.

I just did a brief test of Show Info under ajax and I got a new window but it only displayed  broken image link. You may want to check with support on this one.
