Calendar

Hell All,

I have all month, quarter, week, year previously calculated from etl side.

moreover one of dimension holds all possible years and date so I could not find any need to create calendar now.

Moreover all data on dashboard is in proper format without any problem,

Can you please suggest in which scenario we need to create separate calendar table and which scenario there is no need to create it.

Thanks

there is one possibility, rolling calendar..that type of data won't come from ETL date dimension table.

There is a need to have a calendar table, when you have a need to define a timeline that does not correspond to your data timeline. There is no specific need to make this a separate table, compared to merging the calendar fields into the fact or dimension table.

This blog post might give you an idea of a scenario where calendar tables can make sense.
