Can 'select' be used in OLEDB?

As reference manual said :

Select
The selection of fields from an ODBC data source is made through standard
SQL select statements. However, the extent to which the select statements
are accepted depends largely on the ODBC driver used.

but I'm using OLEDB. How can I do about this?

SELECT statements should be supported pretty much equally by ODBC or OLE/DB drivers, maybe with some exotic exceptions. To the most part, it should be fairly transparent.
