Can't paste into Input Box

Hi all. I'm trying to use an input box to set a variable. It appears the input box is pretty buggy. I can always type into the box directly, but what I want to do is be able to copy and paste some text into the box. Sometimes, if I click on the box and hit Ctrl-V (or right-click, paste), nothing happens. I try over and over again and I can't paste into the box. Also, there's the little (...) button that you can click on to open the Expression Editor. Sometimes if I click on it, it opens and I can paste into it, but sometimes it doesn't. I click on the button and it just won't do anything.

So we've got QlikView 10 SR1 installed. This behavior happens both on the desktop client as well as in the IE plugin client.

Any ideas? This is just annoying. Thanks!

Eric

I am getting the exactly same behaviour though it seems to be user specific - i.e. some users cannot paste into the input box full stop, others some input boxes they can and others they cannot, and then there are other users who can consistently paste into input boxes? Very odd issue for which we urgently need to find a resolution as our users need to copy and paste from excel into Qlikview and this has been archieved through the use of an input box.

Without this functionality they will struggle to fully utlise Qlikview

From Qlikview.exe, pasting into an input box can be done in at least 3 ways:
A. Right-click and select Paste from the drop-down menu.
B. Ctrl+V
C. Edit > Paste from the menu**

The pasting behavior can be affected by whether Admin Override Security is checked.

Note: I did not exhaustively test all combinations of the above methods with the different version of Qlikview.exe. Nor did I really test QlikOCX.

With Qlikview.exe, this is the behavior that we've seen:

😎 Version 8.5
8.1) Admin Override Security unchecked
8.1.1) Fails: right-click/paste
8.1.2) Fails: Ctrl+V
8.2) Admin Override Security checked*
8.2.1) ??: right-click/paste
8.2.2) Succeeds: Ctrl+V

9) Version 9 SR6
9.1) Admin Override Security unchecked
9.1.1) Fails: right-click/paste
9.1.2) Succeeds: Ctrl+V
9.2) Admin Override Security checked
9.2.1) Fails: right-click/paste
9.2.2) Succeeds: Ctrl+V

10) Version 10 SR4
10.1) Admin Override Security unchecked
10.1.1) Succeeds: right-click/paste
10.1.2) Succeeds: Ctrl+V
10.2) Admin Override Security checked
10.2.1) Succeeds: right-click/paste
10.2.2) Succeeds: Ctrl+V

*Even with Admin Override Security checked, using QlikOCX 8.5, pasting fails. I don't have a lot of details about this, though.

**I would hazard a guess that Edit > Paste works like Ctrl+V, but I don't know for sure.

Probably not really an issue for you, but there are a number of things that when you do them in QV, they clear the clipboard, even thought you wouldn't expect them to. Like cloning an object or moving an object. Just another thing to keep in mind.
