Conditionally format top and bottom third in straight table

I'm trying to format the top third and bottom third (green and red background, respectively) based on the sort order of an expression column.  Normally I would just evaluate the results of a row against a total of the row but I'm using variable expressions.  This particular variable expression is built with variables calculated on other variables so it's not easy to duplicate.  I've considered RowNo() but that restricts my sort order.  Any suggestions?

thanks,

Kevin
