Connecting to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online (cloud)

Hi all,

Can anyone share information or their own experiences, provide advice or indeed an answer on connecting QV to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online?

We have read a couple of other articles on the Community and done other research as well as looked at other connectors but would really appreciate all & any advice.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Hi Ben,

I am also looking for some insight into how to do this. Our company is looking to move to the cloud very soon, and I want to be prepared. The one thing I do know is that I was able to connect via SSRS using the Microsoft Dynaics CRM Fetch Data Source connection. I then used fetchXML to build a simple query that was pulling from the cloud. It would be really nice if QV had a connector or at least some guidance into how we could build an apple that would connect to CRM 2011.

A connector for Microsoft Dynamics CRM is on our roadmap for QVSource:

Please feel free to direct message me if you would like to talk further about whether this might be a solution for you.

From what I know there is no solution ready at the moment to connect to CRM 2011 Online.

There is a few third party modules available that lets you publish CRM entities as rss-feeds that you can read in QV.

If you are looking at purchasing a solution I have good experiences with http://www.scribesoft.com/Online/ that lets you replicate a copy of your CRM-data.

The new OData feed in CRM2011 might also be of interest to you, allthough I'am not sure if that is available from outside the application.

This might have changed in the last months but the last word I got was that each single user that access CRM-data, regardless of application, had to have a CRM subscription which terminated our project pretty quickly, so please check with your local MS-representitive before you proceed any further

Its been a couple of months but a quick update:

1. We looked at Scribe as we were already very familiar with this for other on-premise solutions and we got the online connector working such that we could grap a copy of the data from CRM Online. This met our needs.

2. Re the CRM licensing implication - we haven't looked at that as yet but there should at least be some cross over between the licensed CRM users and those looking at the data in QlikView.

Keen to see the connector the folks at QVSource come up with.

Regards, Ben

It has been two years since the latest update in this thread. Is there any news in this area?

I am looking to extract data from MS Dynamics CRM Online. I have investigated the QVSouce solution and as it turns they currently (5:th September 2013) do not support the online version of MS Dynamics CRM, due to that the connector does not authenticate with the online version.

Just to add to this - if there is MS Dynamics CRM online user reading this thread who can work with us (QVSource) by providing an ongoing log in to a test server which we can use to develop and test a connector then we would be keen to look into adding support to this to QVSource.

The challenge we currently have is that we are not users of CRM online and getting a trial account for a few months is not really suitable for developing and maintaining a connector.

We have started work on a dedicated QlikView Connector to Dynamics CRM Online and are interested in speaking to companies who would like to help test it and shape development:

@Alex Peasley,

How are you?

Did you get a way to pull data from CRM Online and connect it to Qlikview?

I am in the same situation.

Thanks.
