Hi All,
We have a QV9 SR6 platform and we want to test the feasibility of QV with SAP BW. But I have read through forums/docs that we need to have SAP connector to extract the data and the bad part is we do not have SAP connector with us
Please give your inputs/suggestions/thoughts on how this can be done in best possible way.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sharma
Any inputs on this ?
For loading for example Info Cubes from the BW you need the SAP Connector. Alternativ is to load the needed data direct from the Database Tables.
If you like to test the SAP Connector contact your Account Manager.
Hi,
There is one solution. You can use "Extract QV" for fetching data from SAP system. It is middle ware compnoent.
But only thing is it is not certified by QlikTech.(I hope)

@ dzr: Ok that make some sense. But how do we connect to SAP BW using QV directly ? can you please guide me through a bit ? Also do we need to have SAP installed in local machine ?
@ Jai: Thanks Jai. Is it available for free/trial ? What is the cost of this one ? Have you worked on it by any chance ?
Hi Sharma,
I think it is available demo version available for trial purpose.I never worked and I gone through the doccument only.Hee is the link http://www.theobald-software.com/download/XtractQV/XtractQVWhitePaper_EN.pdf

You can't connect to SAP from QV directly, but to the database used for SAP (for example Oracle). The problem you will face in this way is, that you need to have someone with good knowledge of how SAP is handling the database. Some SAP Tables in SAP are build from different Tables in the database.
You do not need to install SAP on local machine for using the SAP Connector.
@dzr: I want to connect to SAP directly and pull the data in QV. So once we have pulled the data from SAP, it will hit SAP BW everytime we reload QV application?
Is SAP connector is free to download or is available for trial? How to avail it ?
@Jai: Thanks for your link. I will go through the document.I will try to get the trail version and test with it.In the mean time, please keep me posted if you are trying something new with XtractQV.
It depends on how you build your QVW will connect to SAP. Often used is to have a QVD Generator wich load the data into QVD files from SAP, mostly on night run. After this your applicaton can load from these files.
It is not free for download, but you can contact you Account Manager to get a Test license.
@dzr: SAP connector is provided by SAP or by QV?
